Just wanted to share - My new Garage. - Shed finally done.
« on: June 01, 2013 - 10:04:42 PM »
So, we are not just about settled in our new home, it certainly feels like home.

The garage is stil full of other stuff, waiting for our shed to be built.  Once that is done I will clear a bunch of stuff out and make the garage workable again.

The garage is a little bigger then my old one...but I am more than happy with the space.  I think I can make it a very workable space.

Here are some pics.

Lots of space at the sides

As you can see I have a very high ceiling

Any ideas on how I can use this space, other then a lift...just not gonna happen.

My imediate plans are to rip down the drywall, insulate all the walls, sound proof the side attached the house, and re drywall everything.

I am alos going to add some additional outlets and better lighting.

Jason

Well I'll say I have a similar setup w shelves up over my car... just no where else to go w the stuff. You got the right idea on adding more outlets. I've added 2X already. Add some lights too!

Looks a lot like my garage which is small (16 X 20). But I have an attached workshop. What I did with my garage (and your's looks like you have some overhead space) was I floored the overhead with plywood and put all my boxed junk in the overhead allowing more room to get around in the garage. Looks like you might be able to do this as well to get the stuff off the ground and give you more floor space.  Glad things are moving along!

Jason, a friend of my boys is supposed to get us some new lights for our garage and if/when he does, if you want them, you can have the eight 4 bulb four footers we're using now- for free. If that works for you, let me know. Ian

1st get a preist and have him perform an excorcism for all those spectre's floating around in the pic. Then build a storage loft on the upside or mount a huge 70 inch TV with a dvd player so'd you can watch flicks while you work on yer car and drink brewskies.

:2thumbs: Some good ideas already-with the small garage using the overhead area and the walls for storing stuff will help free up floor space and more lighting is always nice.

 :iagree:

When you get to adding outlets, consider a 220v outlet b4 the new drywall goes up. If a future welder or air compressor needs one, you will be glad you have one. :2cents:

Maybe consider mounting lights on the side walls as well, especially down low. Slim line or recessed. Those overheads are nice, but create lots of shadows underneath. Lot's of outlets! You can't have too many. As mentioned, a 220 outlet, maybe up front in the corner? And like GrandCuda said, have the place exorcised or blessed! lol.

Well, i needed a place to put stuff...I am careful not t scratch it...just don't ask abou the big chunk out of the pass side door...it needs paint anyway. :dunno:

I like the idea of a loft. I may look into that.  I am not sure I ever noticed your lift Allan  :clueless:
