Make that 220v outlet at least a 30 amp and if you have the space in your electrical panel maybe even consider an over head electric hear with a blower or a combination heat/ac unit.  Mitsubishi makes some nice thru wall ductless units that are energy efficient and will give you comfort in all seasons.

Soooo you need more space huh?  :thinkerg:   :roflsmiley:

Jason I'd insulate it , drywall it and paint it all white to brighten it up. Id love to have the height you do, first thing I'd get would be a drive on hoist. I'm getting to old to be laying on my back on a cold floor especially in the winter!  :eek4:

Aw just talkin bout all the stuff sitting on, above and around the cuda. I'm a bit of a worry wart that's all.

I appreciate your concern.

The stuff on the cuda, well, the paint is really bad at thsi point, so I guess I just do not worry about settign stuff on it.

The stuf around it, well all that will go just as soon as i get the shed up (damn building permits!).

The stuff over it, well, I must say am a little nervouse abotu that too.  The overhaed rack only has some insulation on it, as I had no where else to put it.  as ossn as the shed is built the insulation wil come down and the rack too!.

The shelves only have light stuff on them.  The dresser and book sehlf will get moved as soon as the sehd is built.

Then i can build a work beck and start organizign the garage into a decent workspace.

Soooo you need more space huh?  :thinkerg:   :roflsmiley:

That is the plan, more electrical, better lghts and finish out the space.

The height is great, but I am not sure what to do with it yet.  The lift sounds great, but pricey and i think it would take up too much space.  I can actually walk around the car (oce all the stuff is out of there).  i woudl hate to give that up for a lift.

Finaly made some progess on the shed "build", so I can get the garage cleaned out.

Built a retaining wall on three sides out of 4x4 PT,(tied in the front portion with one course).  The dimensions at 18 X 14 to allow for a 2 foot border around the shed.

The first course is tied in with rebar about 2 feet deep.

I have a deadman in the back on the third course and one on each side about the midpoint.

Next step is to backfill and compact the area and add about 4 inched of gravel, compacted of course.

Then they can build the shed...well once I get that pesky building permit.

Some pics.

From the edge of the yard.

There is nothing more satisfying then buildign something with you own hands.

That's a good sized yard Jas! If memory serves, you can build a garage up to 10% of the total lot area, so that's a good start. Trust me, you NEVER have too much garage space- well, maybe Cody does, but not many of us. Looks like that 'barrow is getting a workout; how's the arms feeling?  ;)

Ok, So I have moved some dirt and have a pretty good base going...pics will follow tonight.

Here is my deliema, I used up all the pit run that I had, and I am a little short.

I am not totaly level after compactign the pit run.

I know I need to add gravel and was planing on about 3.5 inches.

My question is, can I add more gravel to a total depth of a bout 7 inches, or is it better to get some more pit run (sand rock mix) and level everything off and keep the gravel at an even 3.5 inches.

The issue is around delivery charges etc. (can get 4 yards of gravel no problem, but can not get a yard of pit run and 3 yeards of gravel without paying extra delivery).

Thanks,

Jason

I cannot see any reason why you couldn't fill the remaining low points with just more gravel. You are going to use compactor on it anyway? Here in Finland the building legislation is quite strickt and it only defines the minimum depth of the gravel under the floors and foundations. At least in here the main purpose for the gravel is to stop the water "climb" into the foundations/floors because of the capillary effect. On one corner of my house there is something like 40 inches of gravel because we blow of one big rock from that corner and I didn't have any other kind of decent earth for filling up the pit.

Well, your timing was ALMOST right. The boys and I were going to excavate the soil ( read pit run, in Preston) this weekend to put in trough drains, but we got jammed up trying to rent an excavator. I'll look around Jason, there used to be piles of it here. You're probably less than a 1/4 mile from the old Preston Sand and Gravel pit on Eagle st. You only need 1 yard? Ian
