what style are you looking for?  i just mounted a 9 grand auto meter tach on my steering column.  daisy sees her fair share of high rpm runs so an accurate visable tach was important for me.  its a really cool deal with shift light, max rpm recall, and the guage is very big and readable, but it still looks good where it is.  definitely not a stock look though.

The 8 grand tachs can be difficult to get as they only had them in 70 after that they were only 7 grand , I will keep my eyes open

Thanks Chryco.  They are a really hot and rare item on eBay, sometimes reaching over $200.  It could be cheaper to buy the whole Rally cluster and part out the pieces we don't need.

Hey Rev-It-Up:  Guess what? I got one ! 8 Grand tach that looks real good. Don't know if it works or not--took it on trade for some stuff a while back. Post again if interested. Might be able to get the electricians at work to check it out to see if it works.

Let's see  uuuuhhhhh.  $145,000.00 plus shipping.  Just kidding. Just kidding. Let me get the thing to work in the next couple of days and get it tested to make sure it works. I don't want to sell you something that won't do what you need for it to do. Is that a deal?

Well, I guess in my last post I might have appeared a "little" over excited (or maybe desperate).  I appreciate you checking out the tach.  That's a lot more than most people would do!  You can send me an e-mail off line with how much you would need to part with it.  LL_Davis@hotmail.com  Thanks again!

Brought the tach to work today and gave it to my buddy the electrician (also car nut) and he will get it checked out in the next day or so. The tach itself is in pretty good shape. Probably will need cleaned up some. There appears to be a little overspray of some type on the flat black face and hood of the instrument. I used a little lacquer thinner and rubbed gently with a rag and a lot of it came off so I left it alone. Just trying to give you an honest description. The RPM range colors are a little faded but distinguishable and the needle is good. Will keep you posted on the testing.

News, but not bad news! Buddy checked out the tach--says he can't test it on the bench where we work. It takes a pulse type feed to make the tach work and he doesn't want to run the risk of damaging it by trying different things. Drew me a diagram to hook it up on my 440 Six-Pack engine to run in parallel and see if it will read. Will try to do that in the next couple of days. Currently working 3 pm to 4 am so my time is limited but will do my best to get this done. Saw a 7 grand tach on ebay--looked new--for $150.00. WOW !!!

That sounds like a lot for a 7 Grand tach.  You can get those fairly cheap.  Maybe it had already been reconditioned. ?   Anyway, take your time on checking it out.  We're in no rush.  Our car is still in the body shop.  We're just collecting the parts we're going to need to put her back together.  Thanks again!!

I'd be willing to send it away to have it refurbished.  How much you want for a broken tach?
