I just checked mine and it has to be pulled straight down to release,and the fact it`s a 10` door so no worries.

Seems like a piece of tin screwed along the top of the door ( from the inside) would remedy this problem?

Good info to know, thanks.  I'm emailing this video to my sister.

Thing is they need to be able to see through a window on the garage door I would think.  Blocking the windows or tinting them may help also but the zip tie trick is decent.

according to the video the window makes no difference , just slide the wire over the top of the door & move sideways to catch the rope & pull
