70 challenger front seat not straight
« on: June 04, 2013 - 10:56:57 PM »
I need help, my front seats looking from the front or back of the car are leaning towards the center console....not straight. The seat covers were redone a long time ago, can it be the seat frames are mixed??
I had to put washers to straighten the seat but still not perfect.....
Anybody seen or have this problem???

possibly the wrong seat tracks from another model, see reference photos here  http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=90931.msg899690#msg899690

How far out is it ? It could be a bent floor pan from years of abuse...Try putting a floor jack under the inner rear mounting studs and jack the car up... :2cents:

most likely the seat back frames twisted, which give the inward lean look, i have seen a lot of this, only way to fix it , is to remove and disassemble  the back and straighten the frame.

Do you have repo floor pans? I am having the same issue, but on mine the seat will not sit on all 4 corners. It only sits on 3. In other words it rocks back and fourth like one of the holes is too high. Not sure if the tracks are messed up or if the repo pans aren't correct. This is the full amd floor pan. The seats came out of a cuda, so I have never had a chance to see if they sat correctly on the floor pan of my challenger. I converted my challenger from a 74 to a 70 and chaged the seats.

I don't think it's the floor, these seats come from my first Challenger and where not straight back then, thinking it was the floor??? When I installed them on my 2nd car, same thing??? And the seats I removed from the 2nd car were straight.....Could it be when they re-did my seat covers back in 1988, maybe they mixed the lower seat frame from left to right.....also sitting on them I'm on a angle.

thanks

Had that problem on my passenger seat, Po recovered the seats and installed the inside seat track backwards. they are 1 5/8" high in the back and 1 1/4 hi in the front. check yours.

:iagree:  Mine was just like that. Ended up getting another seat to fix the problem.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I didn't know that. I know I took them off to recover the seats, so I bet that is the problem. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
