Yes! New Charger wheels fit old Cudas!!
« on: June 13, 2013 - 08:08:27 PM »
I bought these 17" steels wheels for a new Charger (at a great price), in the hopes they would fit my 1973 Cuda.  THEY DO!  I think they look fantastic and these cars need much bigger wheels than those puny 14" inchers.  :)

Hmm I thought the bolt pattern was just slightly different so the studs are not exactly center in the holes , make sure they do not come loose .

They line up perfectly.  Even the hub center is dead bang on.  It's like they said, you know what, I think we should let people with the older cars 'upgrade' to the tires they SHOULD've come with :)

The only thing is, you need 'ball' foot lug nuts (ie they have a nice ball shaped landing, don't know if this is the correct term), vs the regular 'straight' edge lug nuts.  These come on the newer cars by default.

I paid $100 for all 4 rims :)

Very cool!  They look nice!

So do you have the stock suspension?  Anny issues with the front spindle going into the center hub hole on the rim?  Snug or loose?  :clueless:

What size tires are you using?  Are they the same size as the newer Chargers/Challengers?  :clueless:

Thanks!

Slight difference as the older cars are 114.3mm vs the 115mm of the newer cars.

I think you are right (again) CP. I remember looking at bolt centres of different vehicles a while ago and I think the older dodges are 114.3mm (4.5") centres and the newer are 115mm.

Hi guys, I'm sorry I don't know the exact backspace.  These are the stock 17" winter rims they sell on cars up here and everyone usually just 'upgrades' so these come up for very cheap.  The tires are Cooper 245/45/17

The suspension is stock.  No rubbing anywhere and it seems these wheels were meant for this car!  It was a tiny gamble as I never read anything saying they are a PERFECT fit, but really, perfect fit!

Well, maybe the car could be a bit lower.  :)  But there's no horrendous fender gap, it looks just right.  I will get some side profile shots and any other pictures if someone wants.

Plus, I think the rally 'center' caps can be made to fit these wheels (paint them black, good to go!).  Nice upgrade I think for the money.  Shipping rims up to Canada is $$$ so very happy not to have to do this.  I might try to pick up the 18" 'pentagram' rims, hmm!

This guy claims these are Ram pickup rims, that would give even more options as trucks are everywhere

A shot showing the hood and profile :)  The hood is fiberglassed in (I got it like that!).

Those look like the rims that came on the AWD Chargers/Magnums, could be wrong.
