Wanted: 70-74 Cuda
« on: June 16, 2013 - 11:27:40 PM »
Hey, im a new member! Just let the cuda of my dreams slip through my fingers! I'm looking for a solid 70-74 Cuda in good enough shape for a frame on restoration! Numbers matching is not important as I will make this car my own! Very solid with very little rust! Will I every find this car again for under 10k? Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Steve

You think I can clone to an AAR with that Yellow 73 easily? I'm trying to clone one like this!

Steve,
here is one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-barracuda-cuda-nice-project-car-/310690044468?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item485691da34

It's a project but majority of the body work is done and he has lots of parts it sounds like.
And his reserve is only $3,700

Thanks for continuing to search for me! That is some clean metal! Just seems like a lot of work for a 318 car that's not a true Cuda! Would make a great AAR clone though! Looking for something a little more put together!

Question: are there any differences in the body shapes at all if I'm trying to clone an AAR Cuda!? Can I use a 74 Barracuda that's not a true Cuda?

If you're going for a clone then the 72-74 body wouldn't work. The tail panel is different. Also the markers are
different and the antennae is on the back quarter instead of the front fender. Of course you could either weld
up holes and make new, replace sheetmetal, or make the car your own unique "aar looking" car. Just depends on if
you mean "clone" in it's purist form.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I would think if you can get that 70 cuda cheap enough, use the extra money to have a shop finish any panel welding stuff and the body is ready to go. Finding a non-rust-bucket cuda or barracuda with a body in that good of shape for under 10K may be hard to find, but I haven't done a whole lot of looking for them in that condition. And in regards to a concern of not being a true cuda, your building a clone AAR to begin with. IMO it wouldn't matter if building a "clone" anyways, but that's just me.

Either way I wish you good luck and keep us posted.

This is a 74 Barracuda and the Anntena is on the front! Clean with very little rust! The green AAR pic posted above is a 72! As long as this body on the 74 Barracuda have the same curves, I should be good! What you think?
