I'm no expert but it looks good (not knowing the price to justify it). I would say go with your gut feeling.
If it feels right, do it. Do what YOU want to do. It will be YOUR baby after all.

The body from 72-74 is the same. Cuda and barracuda are the same physical bodies. Only differences are emblems, hood, trim, etc. to clone it to an aar at a minimum you will just need a hood. Full blown and you will be better off starting off with a 70.

Well, do you think that one will work? Seems to be in pretty good shape!

You still haven't clarified what you want. If you want a "clone" ie: identical but not real, then you have alot of work ahead of you.  If
you just like the strobe stripe and exhaust cutouts in front of the tires then a 72-74 will work. Yes the car pictured appears
to be in good shape, but pictures can be misleading. A thorough inspection is still best.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

The Cuda Sheet metal is very similar in all years , the major differences are the tail lights ,side lights & extended bumpers front & rear , even the 72-74 grille is somewhat similar to the 70 although the front turn signals at the top of the 70 grille is what defines the 70 for me .
So yes it will work & looks solid in the pix , make sure you look closely for rust though .

I would suggest bumping up your price range to the 15-17k range and getting one in good shape that is complete and running.  Ive got a 74 cuda that I just had painted alpine white, painted aar stripe, aar hood and 71 cuda grille installed.  I have dropped a $hit ton of money in this car and still doesnt run.

I got money in hand and flying to take a better look at the blue Barracuda in the morning! After a thorough inspection, if all goes well, I'll be driving her home! I'm not interested in a AAR clone in its purest form! If I change bumpers, hood, and emblems, I should be good I think! Of course Ill always count on you guys for suggestions through this process! As long as it looks good underneath, she will be mine! I really appreciate the opinions of all that have replied to my post! Ill let you guys know what happens tomorrow! Wish me luck!

I just bought it, paid 10k! All original, factory a/c car, only 75000 original miles, frame rails solid, truck pan solid, got a title, factory owners manual, floor pans mint! Needs left front quarter, small cut outs on both rear quarters! The car doesn't even have the first bubble under the vinyl top! Well taken care of car! I'm in her now making my journey back to Georgia!

Made it home safe! The car run very smooth and carried me 723 miles home! She needs an alignment, maybe some tires, shocks and a good mount and balance! She could use a tune up and a little cleaning up of the engine to ensure she is a good driving project till my 440 is complete! 4 people tried to buy car from me on my journey home! It's been a long drive and I'm sleep deprived, but its all worth it!
