    Awesome build!  FWIW i used to own the 4spd 71 Cuda that was used in Phantasm 2. All of the black cars they used were autos, mine was was an EV2 383 Cuda. It was used only for the 4spd scene after they pick up the girl. Keep up the great progress, can't wait to see it finished.

    I have been so busy with moving guys, sorry for the late update! The car is in the final stages of blocking. Still have to add the4 speed hump and frame ties then its off to paint! The body is looking amazing.

    That is so cool!! Whenever pt5 comes out, we will see more of the old pt2 Cuda again. Same car!! Only difference is it has new tires!! I have seen that scene many times, its funny how they put the hood pins on wrong for the shot. Thats some neat history.

    The preparation is looking great !  :thumbsup: Love the hemi too  :burnout: They must be some kind of only Mopar restoration guys. I think i see three Mopars in the photos with yours.

    Oh yes, "The Finer Details" is known for restoring some of the finest Mopars on the planet. They did my Concorse Gold AAR back in 2012.

    and, I'm back!
    Lots of progress since my last post. I'll skip a zillion primer shots and get to the good stuff. The body is now perfect and going into paint, doors fenders and deck lid were painted. I decided to shoot this car in single stage paint this time. (DuPont Chroma Premier Single Stage) Hemi is now painted too. (Chrome breather only temporary) Still lots of little things to go through, I'm starting on the dash and cluster next.












    First the black sealer was applied before the paint, these three pics are showing sealer only, no paint:












    The doors and fenders are in paint and getting the final rub out, the finish is amazing.











    Doors are finished! Ready to hang on the car...

    Forgot to mention that US Car Tool frame ties were previously welded in. Figured it would be a good idea since the car is being stuffed with a 426 Hemi.

    The body was taped off and the undercoating was applied to the wheel wells and undercarriage.

    Thank you! All of the body and paint work is being handled at my friends shop The Finer Details. Once they get it back down as a roller I’m bringing it home to finish it up.

    The undercoating was applied to the inside rear quarters. A black epoxy was sprayed on the interior of the car and the black sealer was sprayed in the trunk. Black paint was then sprayed in the trunk compartment and inside the interior around the package tray area, and the door and roof edges were trimmed out as well.














    If anyone remembers the film, there was a Hemicuda badge on the rally hood bulge. These were badges from a shaker bubble, they were not intended to go on a hood but when Don built the film car they added them for the movie because the car was supposed to be a Hemi car. In reality it had a small block under the hood. This little detail will probably drive a lot of purists nuts, I’ve already had people telling me I’m crazy not to put a shaker on the car. If I  do all of that then it’s not going to be the movie car and I really don’t care if it bothers anyone. I don’t want to build just another hemi clone, I want to build phantasm 2 Car.

     The emblems were positioned in place and one of the holes is getting welded up from the previous badges. The top photo is a screen shot from the movie were they pan in on the emblem on the Ralley hood.







    Brought my old original dash to the car home, orver Winter I’m going to start restoring everything, I figured I’d post a before shot here so you can see how it looks.
