Door Skins?

I've started re-building a '74 Challenger that my son and I built about 15 years ago.  He put a lot of miles on it and it needs a lot of work again.  This time, though, it's for me.  Compared with the first time, there's a lot more re-pop parts available, plus the internet makes it waaaaay easier to find parts.  Prices don't seem too bad either, which is good since the one thing that hasn't changed is my tight budget.
 
I'm looking at door skins, and wondered what everyone's impression is - Are they a good easy fit, or is it worth buying the complete door shell for a bit more money?

Also, I've found just the lower door skin, which looks to be about 8" high.   I assume that these crimp on similar to the full skin, and then I'd just have one long seam to weld or panel-bond.  Again, anyone have any experience or opinions on these parts?

I recently grafted in part of an AMD door skin on my '70 challenger's driver side door to repair an old hack job accident repair. The door skin thickness was same as original and body lines matched up well. You'll have to crimp or hammer the edges over, but no big deal.

I had the full skin replaced on the passenger door of my Cuda. It was AMD from Roseville and it fit perfectly. My body guy was amazed how quick and easy it went together.

Avoid the lower skin repair panel as there is a lot of welding and it`s hard to keep the panel from warping. As long as your shell is not rusted out door skins are pretty easy to do.

Too bad it seems you're in Kansas, as I've got 2 brand new AMD skins sitting on the roof of my 74 Challenger! I ended up getting a good buy on a pair of complete doors from a member here and they're surplus. Ian
