which timing set did you buy?  Normally, most seem to allow 2 degs, or even increments

your crank sprocket has 3 keyways, 1 will be for zero advance, 1 will advance the cam, and 1 will retard cam timing. look at your instructions or online for which 1 does what. also you can get bushings for the cam sprocket that will allow you even finer tuning. If I were you I would go with what you have. 1 degree will not make a significant difference on a street motor. by the looks of the slop in your old chain, just replacing it will make more difference.

that's what I was thinking. 1 degree shouldn't make a difference. I also did a centerline degree on the same intake valve and came up with 107 1/2 degrees and the card says 108 so should be close enough....I think.

bout as close to perfect as you are going to get.  I think Chryco is right.  the centerline method is the most accurate.

I got it altogether and just need to put on the oil pump. Chryco said prime it with grease. Which hole.....the impellar one or the one where the filter spins on? What kind of grease?

bearing lube is best , just coat the rotors so they will seal & pull oil up

got everything back together and ready for startup. The new oil filter is on and since it sits at 90 degrees to the engine you cant fill it up to the top and thread it on. I did fill it as much as I can and threaded it on. I am a little hesitant on starting it like that since it wont have immediate oil pressure. Should I take a drill and wind the oil pump first to get the oil flowing? I heard you can buy one of those long shafts for doing that through the distributor hole.

fire it up it will only take a second to fill the filter & pressurize it .

I cant figure out where to mount the coil. The new fuel rail is in the way of the original mounting spot. Any ideas?

I usually use the one mounting hole still accessable & turn the coil sideways in front of the carb

I put on a Holley Street Avenger 770CFM with electric choke and vacuum secondaries.     Runs great so far...... out of the box.

My research suggested this for my stock 440 HP motor.

Do I need to run premium fuel in this motor? What would be best for it?

Definitely. The octane ratings of today don't compare to yesteryear.

What about the fuel being unleaded? Are the heads made for leaded fuel?
