At last, More Progress!!! (Warning: quite a few photos)
« on: March 25, 2005 - 09:53:45 AM »
Well, I finally am back home for my Spring Break and managed to get some hours put away on the Challenger.  I wanted to get my junk K-frame removed so I when I get back in May I'll be able to bring my "new" K-frame into the shop and have it blasted and painted.  At that time, I'll also be having the rest of my front suspension brought in to be blasted, painted, and new bushings/ball joints installed.  Anyways, back to the progress I did yesterday.  I got the center link and the tie rods removed and after a few minutes of wrestling with the K-frame, that finally dropped out with minimal scratching. (who put that lower rad. support so close to them anyways)  I see I will need some more paint applied on the rails now, but that can always be done later on.  I'll be back out there after breakfast to finish up tearing down the front end.
Update: apparently that piece that slides into the lower control arm "socket" is meant to move.  Upon closer inspection of both the piece and the hole, I realized it isn't sheared or anything like that.  Whew, that's a good thing to know.  Now I just need to get the other torsion bar off the lower control arm and get the upper control arms removed from the car and that'll be it for the front suspension.  :grinyes:

Yes, I stopped by Mike's place last weekend and helped him get some of his stuff put together.  I see he has his engine back from the shop now, too.  It sounds like your convert. is making a lot of progress also.  That's awesome man!!!!  Yes, progress is great! :grinyes:

Look s nice.  amaizing about the sheering of almost an inch of metal.  I see the impact on the k-frame... well keep up the good work!

Looking good!  I am glad you were able to put some time in on the car.  I can't wait to see what she looks like with all the nice new parts.  Mike called me to tell me his motor is in and up on the engine stand right now.  He said it will be going in over the weekend!

Way to go Mark, certainly every "little" bit helps in the overall progress picture, what did that guy hit to do that to the K-member? Man that had to slow some forward momentem, lol. Looking good Mark, summer will be here soon (we hope) and then you and your Dad can get down to some serious work, right?

Well, here are the last few photos of the progress I made today.  I definitely need to clean up those now exposed areas and get them painted.  The blasting shop didn't do too well cleaning up around the upper control arms. :banghead:  There's the different K-frame to compare the two.
