Bummer -- had to replace the alternator

Well, I really can't complain I guess, the alternator is 9 years old. It has survived on the street and strip all that time. It finally gave up the ghost last Saturday as I was headed home from a nice cruise-in. The car ran fine, I always scan the gauges while I am driving it and I noticed the amp gauge was holding steady at 12. Bringing up the revs and the gauge didn't respond. Thank goodness I am running two well charged batteries because the fuel pump, water pump, both cooling fans, and the ignition run off the power. I guess the new one will be here tomorrow and I can start all over wearing this one out.....     :working:   then   :burnout:   :bigsmile:

I have a place right around the corner from me in a barn in the back of a home that tears them apart and repairs them within a day.  Need to take the one off the convertible and get them to make it stop squeeking!  Never go anywhere else . . .everytime I go there, they have at least 100 units sitting around  . . . .

Is that the same powermaster alt we had fixed when it was 3 days old ?

Oh yes . . . same one.  This is one of the reasons the convert is still in storage . . . the other is the leaking power steering unit that I need to rebuild.  Going to start on those issues here soon!

After 45 minutes to install another alternator, I am back in business. 2 bolts and 1 wire took 45 minutes. Very tight space to fit an alternator. I needed 3 tiny hands and I only have 2 normal ones.....    :working:

They are both in the trunk. One on the right side of the fuel cell and one on the left. Batteries over the rear tires aid traction. The 2nd battery gives me a lot "deeper" charge and they will last much longer under load than a single battery..... :2thumbs:
