E-body doors
« on: June 26, 2013 - 09:35:44 AM »
Hey gang.
Can I get some pictures posted of the inside of E-body doors with either the plastic shield installed or whatever form of sound deadening you may have done? Of course, this is without the door panel installed. I want to wrap up these doors pretty soon on my friend's '71 Challenger......

Thanks...

If it does not have to be totally stock...please do not put the worthless poly liners back in.
I used hushmat sound deadener to cover the entire door frame behind my panels. It is thin enough that the panels will fit fine. It does a great job killing any door noise. The doors sound good when you shut them, not that hollow rattling sound that most e-bodies have. I'm sorry but I don't have a pic with me at work. I'll check my pics at home tonite.

Yes, that is some good stuff. I ran out of dynamat doing the floors, and got the hushmat from a local stereo dealer to do the doors with. The hushmat was a better product in my opinion. It sticks great and is not too thick to interfere with the door panels. I looked for pics last nite and found that I didn't take any of the doors- sorry.

Once I finished adjusting my glass and was satisfied with the function of all my door hardware, I then sealed the entire outer part of the inside door skin with hushmat. Just cut out around the locks, handles mirror adjuster etc. The door panel will fit over it (my new Metro ones did) with no issues. The first time you shut the door with the sound deadener in place a huge smile will be unavoidable. The doors will sound like a new car.
I wish I had made pics but I didnt. I did the floors, doors, firewall and quarter glass area. It was definitely worth the money, this stuff ain't cheap.
