Yesterday I went and borrowed my dads sand blaster to start on these smaller parts. Its a cheap harbor freight one and im hoping i can get it running right to use it. Since in gonna be sand blasting i decided to build me a sand blasting room. I didnt want to get blasting media all over my shop but also didnt want to do it out side. Main reason is so i could collect it up the media and reuse it. You know to save money and all. I got to BALL ON A BUDGET as my wife says. So with my trusty side kick we built us a suitable room. and got started

my trusty side kick spent more time hauling off the tape and tools then actual help. But she never *****es and moans so ill keep her around awhile.

Started alittle bit. but the sand blaster is pulsating. It blast a second the a bunch of sand comes out. IT does that back and forth. So i had to quite till i figure that out. Plus im off to the gym to keep it a ten cause no one wants to be married to a mediocre six.

I had the same problem when I was using a harbor freight blaster. I always suspected it was because the media I had needed to be finer.

check your pressure.  I have a craftsman blaster and it does the same thing.  I even have a separator on it.  If I mess with the pressure, sometimes it will help.

It does have a drier om it. I dont know what media was in it Its prolly been in there awhile. I was thinking it was going to be a pressure problem. I was gonna fool with it this weekend and see what i can come up with.

I would take a 30 grit disc on the DA sander and remove most the bondo on your fender first. Try not to concentrate on one spot as It can cause warpage to the sheet metal but move around alot.  :2cents:

 :iagree:  Sand blasting can warp metal.  Don't ask how i know this.   :banghead:

i never had much luck with the harbor freight blaster either. i tried several different medias, had no success. So i rented a big boy from the local rental shop. Sand blasting cabinet will be your best friend also. Thankfully my work had one of those. I put a bazillion parts through that thing. Keep your media clean. I probably would not re-use it. Despite how clean you think you have it, it only takes a little piece of crap to plug things up. 

Keep at it. It only took me 7 years.     :2thumbs:

So its been awhile since an update. I have been slowly tinkering away on the fenders and doors. It seems like the more I dig and clean the more I find.
I have decided on replacing the driver fender since it would require alot of work to repair it. The passanger side is bad but manageable. So I got as far as I could on the front fenders before giving up. I decided to take a break and work on the doors for awhile. HUGE mistake I started cleaning and sanding the drivers door and when I pulled the weather stripping off the hole bottom of the door decided to come with it. So I abandoned it till i could decide what I wanted  to do with it. So I made it to the passenger door, it is in way better shape and does not need much. I have decided to find me a driver door that is in alittle better condition. I also went to order my firewall and quarter panel today. Bad News of course. After calling multiple places and no one having them I finally decided to call AMD directly. The guy I talked to told me that they are completely out. But on the up side AMD has talked to their supplier and they are loading the container now and should have all my parts in 45 days. So i guess they should actually have them by December. I will load pics of my progress tomorrow when I make it home.

What's your fender tag readout?

Did you find a build sheet anywhere while pulling the car apart?

I do have the fender tag and whats left of the build sheet. I will try to find them I put them up when i got the car.

I can not find the build sheet. I know i have one but its put up in a box.
