**MOPAR NATIONALS 2013** UPDATE!
« on: June 27, 2013 - 12:49:47 PM »
Just filled out the form for tickets as the deadline is on or before June 30, 2013 and mailed it out.  Then I booked a hotel by the airport in Columbus where we typically stay . . . . Looking forward to that trip as usual.  Not sure if the wife is going this year or not . . .

Who else is going?   :dunno:

We'll be there again this year. We stay out at the airport every year too. What motel are you at? I can't remember the name of our motel (it has changed a couple of times) but it is the one with the McDonalds next to it.

We stay at the candle wood suites which is on Taylor rd  . . . There is a steak house right next door that we go to when we visit.  Don't know of a mcdonalds there anywhere .. . .

I'm only  100 miles away so will probably commute.   Might take camper and stay nearby and make it an overniter.  No car only looking for parts.    I have stayed at the Baymont at the I-71  and 161 interchange and it was in the  $60 range but that was in March.

I will be going again as I have not missed the nationals since I started going in 1985. I have a room on Brice Road but my buddy has a extra room in Heath where the big cruise is and may stay there and cancel my other room.

I gave up on the Mopar Nationals...

For 15 years straight we stayed on Brice road through the Hay Days....
The last year I went was 1999, by then the show was going downhill fast...

Started comparing it to the growing show at Carlisle and made the simple decision to give up the Nats....

I guess if racing is your thing, then the Nats are a must, but for me I can do without the kaos.... :2cents:

We're going again, but it may be the last year as a vendor. Getting too old for the heat, setting up, tearing down, and 14 hour drive each way. Staying near the airport at the Ramada on E. Broad St, as it's $73.79 with the taxes. Decent place.

I Plan on going but missed the June 30 cheaper rate. We plan on the usual CC.com Saturday meeting dinner at Stacy's Homestyle buffet on 79, before watching the cruising in Heath.

4C, we can all meet up at the track at a designated time if Heath is too far for some.

I decided to go to the Nat's this year.  After everything that's been going on, I need a break.  This was the year I was going to bring the car but there's no time to figure out the logistics.  Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Looking forward to seeing you there.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate a bit more than the last couple of years.

Accually I didn't mind the weather last year.  It was a nice break from the scorching heat.  Here in Iowa, it's extremely cool.  I hope that moves east in a couple weeks.

Is Alan's sentiment shared by others?

I admit, I haven't been to them since I think '92 or maybe '93. But it was huge and the most awesome Mopar show on the planet. Now that I live in St Louis I have been meaning to get on over there but you guys are making me second guess that thought. Carlisle has it very own section in the forum index and the Nats are lumped in with all the "other" shows. What's up with that?

So what happened? The Nationals were (are) the granddaddy of all Mopar shows. Did it simply become just too collassal and impersonal? Totally sold out to commercialism at the expense of the enthusiast?

Do tell, inquiring minds (like mine) want to know the down and dirty on this subject.

Cheers!
