Trunk Divider?

Were the trunk dividers the same for both hardtops and convertibles, or was the cut/shape slightly different?  Thanks.

I thought they had a "well liner" that cushioned the area where the top sat when down.  The top ends up behind the seat occupying part of the trunk.  I don't know where a divider would go?

The old divider is very warped in my convertible, and I'm looking to replace it.  I was looking at reproductions, but then I thought of maybe buying some 1/8" hard-board, and cutting it the same as the old warped piece (and glueing on jute-felt insulation).  The one offered by Classic Industries (and others) seem to have a slightly different shape, compared to my "original" convertible trunk divider.  I want to make sure I'm cutting to the right "size" for convertibles.  Thanks.

Same here. I bought my car in 1979 and it didn't have a trunk divider then.

filmsurgeon, how about a picture of what's there. Could of someone before you made up a divider to put there in hopes of cutting down on the trunk noise.

Here are a couple of photos of the trunk divider I found behind the seat.  The jute-felt padding was practically falling off, so I just removed it.  I'd like to buy a new piece large enough to cover the new divider that I cut out of 1/8 hard-board.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what/where to buy?  BTW - I used the warped cardboard divider as a template for making the new one.  It's is certainly plausible that the prior owner used a hard-top divider and just trimmed it where necessary to fit the convertible.  It was hung on the hooks attached to the cross-brace (where the upper part of the seat hooks onto).

Sure looks a lot like a hardtop one with the "ends" trimmed off. That would only make sense though.
I don't remember a jute backing when this was removed, but then again I suffer from CRS.
This mystery definately needs more research, gotta find a survivor 'vert.

I used an industrial plastic sheet of abt 1/8" thick.
It was a textured lightweight black product that you could cut with a box cutter.
Worked really well and looks great.

Yes, I considered using the ABS black plastic, but decided the 1/8" hard-board would be easier to get (HD or Lowe's), and cheaper.  I will be making panels out of 1/4" ABS, and covering them in white pleated vinyl for my custom trunk finishing project.
