Lightning bugs...

Haven't seen them around much the last few years because of drought? I'm guessing. I opened the door to let the doggies out tonight, and was amazed to see hundreds of them! WoW! How cool! Natures fireworks show. Nothing like it! Sometimes, the simplest things can give you the most pleasure.

While training in North Carolina back in the early 90's I got to see Fireflies for the 1st time. Kinda like the little sparkles you see when you stand up to fast from a crouched position.

I first noticed them around here about 2 weeks ago. It seemed like there were none and then all of the sudden, they were everywhere....  My dog doesn't quite know what to make of them....

Just started seeing them this week!  Very cool!  Like you said, the simplest things sometimes can give the greatest pleasures.  Gotta find ways to make you happy in life!

I have not seen a lightning but in years up here in Colorado.
Lower elevations get them here but not up where I'm at.

I have lots of childhood memories with those things at a friends house with acreage.
I lived in the city for 45 years and didn't have hardly any. Then moved to a acreage last year with lots of trees and it's a 180. Lots of them. Reliving the good ole days. Drinking a cold beer  in the lawn chair and enjoying nature's finest, including those graceful lightning bugs.

I never saw them when I was in Canaduh. When I moved to Puerto Rico I would spend hours sitting on my back deck watching them.
