Hello Everyone
« on: June 28, 2013 - 06:46:06 AM »
Hi, my name is Phil and I am new to this board. I have two Mopars. One is a '70 Barracuda Gran Coupe and the other is a '69 GTX. The Barracuda is certainly not what I would call restored but more like fixed up nice. I like taking the Barracuda on long trips so one of my main interests is to see how good I can get the gas mileage to be. With a 440 this is not an easy task. Right now I have 3.23 gears with a Passon 4 speed OD Hemi trans. Most guys just want to go fast and it isn't that I don't but racing the car is just not in my budget. The best mileage I have ever gotten is 16MPG but that was under optimum conditions. I have noted that the engine does not like hot and humid weather. It usually gets somewhere between 10 and 14 MPG. I am considering going to 3.73 gears because I don't believe the gas mileage would go down significantly. Below is an older pic of the car but it hasn't changed much since then. Anyway, the car is a lot of fun and it is nice to meet everyone.

Pretty cool to have those 2 cars!

Welcome.  If you are going anywhere, sure helps to get more than single digit for the MPG.  Even if the gas was 28 cents a gallon, nice not to be looking for gas every 80 miles...
