For the longest time, I wanted one! I would take the B-body floor pan (namely the tranny hump), and put one of those crazy long Pistol Grips in it. I would throw a bench in it, just because every other 'Cuda or Challenger you see had buckets. My Rhodesian Ridgemutt prefers bench seats, anyway!

Never a fan , my car have always had a 4 spd & I love the pistol grip .
The weirdest car I saw , was a FC7 Hemi Cuda shaker with a black bench seat & column auto .

That is kind of weird.  In a hemi ??  :faint:

Question.
Can the standard shifter with console be removed without modification and have a standard shifter with just a boot installed in order to switch out buckets to bench.
Just curious if that is an easy swap without modifications so the buckets can be swapped back in depending on the trip being taken.

Hey Josh, I have looked at that modification, i have worked out a way to make a slapstick look like it is a 4 speed stick with a boot on it, but there is still no way a bench will fit in with an auto stick of 4 speed stick in an E-body buddy, the seat to shifter location just will not let it happen. :2thumbs:

To my knowledge the bench uses the same bolt holes as the outer holes for the buckets seats , so the bench or buckets could be swapped without modification , the inner holes could just have rubber plugs popped in to seal them

I have a bench seat sitting around waiting to go Into a 71 Challenger Vert, 318 column shift car.  I think it will add a lot to the whole slow cruiser image.  Not every 71 convertible has to be a 440 or hemi resto.

The Roadrunner came with a bench front seat, even raced with it back in the day.  I went through several B&M shifters trying to get one to fit with the Bench but they were all still too far forward even with the bench pinned all the way to the back.  I put buckets in the RR for a while, but put the bench back in after a while.  My plans are to either keep the bench and put in a std long-arm pistol grip shifter, or put in buckets & console with a console version shifter.  When I thought I'd be racing the car again I had decided on the buckets so I could hang some front seat harness' but now I'm thinking more about a 'fast' cruiser where the bench could still work....  And I have a lot of those same highschool experiences with the benefits of a bench front seat!  Great at the drive-ins...

My car has the bench seat with the bucket backs and the arm rest. I like the arm rest and it's nice to have my wife sit next to me while cruising. It's where she sat when we were dating 20yr ago. Pretty interesting that you don't see them much.

My understanding was that the seats only came in either blue or black originally. Mine was blue.

I am pretty sure they came in all the interior colors, i have pictures of cars with all different factory colored bench seats in them. :2thumbs:
But i too like the idea of having an arm rest under your right arm when your cruising by yourself, or your arm around your loved one when you are both cruising :2thumbs: advantage of a bench seat

Might go as a pace car tribute or B5 blue.  Of course the original dark green might work as well.

I like them in factory applications as a rare oddity but have a big problem with a muscle car with a column shift....it just looses muscle IMHO. Didnt the B bodies have bench with the 4 speed on the floor option
