2013 Challenger: Making the "T/A" scoop functional
« on: July 05, 2013 - 01:53:09 AM »
I have a 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Plus with the External Appearance Package, basically the T/A scoop, rally spoiler and T/A stripe. I want to make that scoop functional and I've seen some parts online. I want to clear up exactly what I'd need.

1. It seems to require a cold air intake. True?

2. The kit is available for the 5.7l Hemi. What's involved in the install?

3. Will it void the warranty if I use OEM parts?

Shouldn't void the warranty if you use Mopar parts. There's a few guys in NH with that same setup.  And, yes, they have the CAI kit.  They also had to change the white plastic coolant reservoir, not included in the CAI kit.  The replacement has a notch molded into it for the cold air sheet metal box to lock into.  At least that was the situation on the 2012 model.

I have another question on this. I'm finally getting the Mopar CAI. How do I cut the blanket under the hood to make the scoop functional? Has anyone done this and have any tips? I haven't seen anything on youtube. I'm going to remove the T/A scoop inserts and drill it out so they'll flow properly.

carpet knife or razor knife should cut the hood insulation easy enough or just remove the whole pad
