http://knue.com/july-1st-the-state-of-arkansas-will-be-considered-a-constitutional-carry-state-should-texas-do-the-same-poll/

Arkansas will join Vermont, Alaska, Wyoming and Arizona as a “Constitutional Carry” state. No permit needed for concealed or open carry. Constution Carry. There are a few bits of good news out there.

I live here in Arkansas,  and the passing of this bill has been a big subject of discussion for awhile. The main focus of this bill was to define the meaning of the the term "journey". There has always been a journey law here that allows possession when on a journey from your home. The problem was "journey" wasn't defined.  A detective friend of mine told me it was always enforced as 25 miles away from your home. In this bill,  they have now defined it as outside of your county of residence.  The thing is,  it doesnt state clearly that it is legal to open carry.  they changed other wording that leaves it open to interpretation of being able to open carry or conceal carry without a permit.  On the law enforcements side of things, I can see the issue of not knowing if the person you are confronting, that is carrying, is a felon or not. Or do they have negative intentions, ect.  At least having requirements for background checks and permits, this helps some.  I know it will never prevent everything, but does help. After all, a criminal will do what they want regardless of the law. They have a letter into the attorney general to try and get the bill better defined.  Im for open carry,  but still think they should require the same training and background checks they do now,  and obtain a permit.  I personally have my CCL, and even if open carry is permitted,  I will still carry concealed.  If this new bill isn't better defined before it takes effect,  I wouldn't want to be the first person that "tests" its limitations with the police and court system.

Felons will carry law forbidding or not. It's about time that legislative idiots realize this, and pass laws that help the 95% of us that wish no ill will, instead of hampering the rights of peaceful law abiding citizens. There is absolutley no sense in passing laws that make the common man a criminal. While doing nothing to prevent a real criminal from going about his day. The Supreme Court has determined that it is NOT a law enforcers (cops) duty to protect you. You are responsible for your own protection. The recent Colorado laws are some of the most messed up legislation that I have ever seen. Hopefully, heads are going to roll. It would make both the cops and the defendant, criminals in the return of the weapons after a crime. Some people are SO ignorant and STUPID, that you just can't fix them. Our Country is governed by a CONSTITUTION. It is a REPUBLIC, NOT a democracy. Some people these days, don't seem to care about that.

Enjoy what you've got boys, 'cause in Canada, they'd arrest you instantly. In fact, as the most recent gun law provides- if the police THINK you MIGHT cause a crime, they have the right to invade your home, without a warrant and seize any firearms they find- and you won't get them back, either. If the guns and ammo are not locked in separate containers, they'll arrest you and seize them. If your wife or neighbours don't agree that it's ok for you to have a firearm, you won't get a possession permit, let alone a purchase permit. you don't know how good you have it, so enjoy, because being a gun owner up here is a real, cast iron SOB.  :screwy:

NH requires a concealed carry permit that is very easy to obtain.  My employer forbids firearms on the property including the parking lot.  This precludes my ability to carry.

Tyranny!!  They Don't want anyone gettin any ideas about removing the self-serving elitists running the gov. No chance of egyptian style removal up there. Unless you want to be rolled with tanks , bombed from drones, or intimidated and erased from the database, or thuggery / worse. Canadians should be able to protect themselves in situations like this also.

Vt surprises me.  It's a very liberal state especially in the high population areas, as far as I can tell.  You would expect that to dominate the policy.

It was one of the founding colonies and is rich with history,... and even though the metro areas are liberal dominated!! that rich heritage holds strong at least in that area. I know they were pretty leanient on pedophiles in thier state court system. They Fought Jessica's law and had some pretty shady judges on the benches.
