Street Outlaws
« on: July 08, 2013 - 09:10:02 AM »
Hi All,
Has anyone here watched a new TV show called Street Outlaws?
It's on Monday nights on the Discovery channel.
It's about a group of people that race thier cars on the streets in Oklahoma City They are very well organized and keep track of the top ten vehicles. I say vehicles because there's 9 cars and one pickup truck. Alas, there's 8 Chevys, 1 Mustang, and 1 Mustang with a Chevy engine; no Mopars.

Today, I dove my wife and dachshund up to the grocery store in the Rumble Bee.
She ran inside for the dog food, puppy and I waited outside. Then this pickup truck towing another pickup pulled in from of me and said; hey, nice truck, is it fast?  I smiled and said; no, she's not fast.
That's when the wife, Susie, was walking up to our trucks yelling; yes the Bee is fast. OMG, that's the Farm Truck

I had no clue what she was talking about, Farm Truck.
The stranger introduced himself as Sean. Said, again, that he liked the Bee and wanted to know if I would like to race. That's when my brain woke up and recognized him, actually, recognized the orange truck - the Farm Truck.
The orange, 197? Chevy isn't much to look at on the outside. Heck, aside from the adorable dog named Louise, the interior isn't either. All that being said, I learned later on the the Farm Truck is running a 502(?) Chevy big block with a manually tranny. Oh, and from the show i also know that he runs nitrous. Sitting on the trailer, I could see slicks for rear tires and it looked like angle iron welded from the frame to the axle housing. I could be wrong, but that's what it looked like b

By now Sean is out of the tow truck (a really nice, new Chevy) and talking with Susie and myself.
I've already divulged the fact that we watch the show. So, Sean turned his attentions to my Dachshund. Evidently he's a dog guy. He had two pups with him, Louise, and I forgot the name of the other pooch. On the TV series, he has Louise as co-pilot while racing.

Anyway, we had a nice time talking with him.  Then the first fan showed up. He asked if he could take a picture of Sean. Sean had a better idea and asked if I would take a pic of the two of them together. I obliged, taken two pics, first one standard distance so the Farm Truck was in the pic. Second pic was closer so you could actually make out the faces.

Unfortunately, parking an orange pickup truck in the Homeland's parking will draw a crowd in Oklahoma.
So, the fans started to arrive, waving their I-phones as to say; I'm next, I'm next!!
Before the groupies could make full contact, I thanked Sean for his time and excused myself so we could go home.
Oh, important note, before we were so rudely interrupted by his fans, Sean told me the general location of his garage. Heck, it's about a half mile from my house. I pass by it several times a week going to the grocery store or my beer store. Guess I'll invite myself over next time I see the Farm Truck.
--- No, I will not stop if the production crew and cameras are there. Unless, of course, the Cuda is drivable.

-- EDIT: Changed "theif cars" to "their cars"

Great story!! I've seen the program with the 'Farm Truck'. Actually I saw the Farm Truck race on a YouTube video before I saw the program "Street Outlaws". I thought it was absolutely hilarious that he races ricers for their spoilers. On one episode I saw, the farm truck beat a ricer and sure enough he had the guy unbolt his spoiler and give it to him as his prize. That's like taking away Superman's powers!!  :smilielol: :roflsmiley:

I watched all of 5 minutes of that show before I changed the channel. Another bunch of BS and tough acting idiots and the premise of the show promotes illegal street racing.  :nono:  The farm truck is kinda cool though.

Saw the show when I was away up North.
I liked it and the boys did also.

Yeah, it's over hyped TV BS added in.
But what reality show isn't? Ya gotta read thru the BS on what it really is.

I've seen one episode. What surprised me was that Discovery is hosting/airing it. My thoughts were that the cops and or city are involved to reap the profits, or Discovery could be included as an accesory if something goes horribly wrong, lol. I thought the best part was the old man calling his gf all the time while his son wrenched on the gold nova. lol.

There is a thread on yellowbullet about the show and the list is real but they actually are racing at an air strip with the cops standing around. They are all good guys supposedly but the show is a little annoying

Never saw the show but I have seen videos of the farm truck and that thing pulls like crazy off the line.

That makes more sense except that`s not really street racing.
