New from Louisville, KY
« on: July 09, 2013 - 01:20:42 PM »
Hey everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself and see if we have any other members near Louisville, KY.

I bought a 73 Challenger a little over a year ago and aside from new wheels I have not had to work much on it.  It has the 318 with a 904 tranny.  The previous owner painted it yellow, installed the white interior, installed a RT-like hood, and put in a new dual exhaust system.  I recently had some alignment issues due to the new wheels so I had to do some searching on here for fixes.  Thanks to all you members, especially those who've posted on any of the many alignment topics.

Here is a picture of when I first purchased it:

I prefer the classic tire/wheel look over the blacked out so here it is as of this weekend:

My long term plans are to do a big block conversion, maybe an RT clone, and return to the factory blue color.  I mostly just wanted something nice to cruise around in for now.  And if I could keep the tranny from leaking that would be nice too

That's a nice color combo. Not sure if I would change the color.
I have a soft spot for yellow!

The yellow is growing on me so I may end up keeping it.  Other than personal preference there is no need to re-spray it.  The chally was originally from California and only in the last few years has it been in the rust belt.  The wheels are the Wheel Vintiques magnum reproduction ones.  I saw some original magnums for sale locally but I wanted to keep my 15 inch tires so after market was easiest.

Hi Jeff, welcome!

I usually prefer the Magnum 500 look over steel rims but the steel rims look really racey on your car, I like it!  Especially with the blacked out hood.  :grinyes:  This is one of those rare times for me when I like the steel rims over the Magnums.  The stance look just right with those rims.

Looking good!  I think a black bumble bee stripe would go with the hood really well.  Welcome to the site, glad you found us.

I've been considering some kind of decal but have yet to decide.  A bumblebee stripe might be good since I like the clean look of the sides.

Welcome!  The yellow looks fine to me and I like the change to the Magnum wheels.  Black bumble bee sounds interesting (good).  Rather than repaint the entire car, I would be tempted to just paint the hood yellow and add the flat black 70-style hood treatment to go with a bumble bee stripe...

Nice catch! Car looks really good, I also prefer the magnums. Your not going to be able to "sneak" around in that one. Enjoy!

Do you know of any cruises that bring out the mopars?  I live out in the east end and I grew up in J-town so I go to the cruise at Home Depot but it's hosted by the Corvette Club so it's mostly GM cars.  Nothing wrong with crashing the party though
