I have a 70 Cuda 383 with a 4core, 8vane waterpump and Milodon 160 highflow t-stat. Mine will run 185 around town but as soon as I start going 55-60 on an 80+ degree day it will quickly go up to 195-200. I've been suspecting for awhile now that part of my problem is my shaker hood. I took all the moveable panels out to allow better airlflow which it did help, but I still feel that big mass so close above the engine is making it hotter than normal and is also part of my vapor lock problems.
Could be getting suction hose collapse.
