Had some trouble on the way home....
« on: July 15, 2013 - 12:25:56 PM »
A brand new tranny line split going to the cooler when I was about an hour from home. Car has a nice coating of fluid front to back Rustproofing?  :icon16:
I noticed it right when I was at an exit on the hwy and managed to limp it to a gas station at 2AM , repaired the rubber line and I had 1 bottle of fluid with me , bought more at 2 different gas stations and got home at 4AM.
Car is a little dirty but I still have this huge grin on my face! What a weekend! :clapping: Nothing like DRIVING your car 14-15 hours ( return) to the show and back!  You guys with trailers are missing out! This is what they are made for! :aarg:

I wonder where would have been the better place for that to happen?  On the drive home, or on the autocross track...?  :)

Glad you made it home!

Brad,

I blew a torque converter seal on the way to Carlise '05. I know all about that rust proofing.   :eek4:

Except some of the fluid would hit my headers and leave a nice cloud of white smoke behind me.   :grinyes:

Glad you were able to fix it without calling the rollback. I've had to McGuiver a couple fixes before and it takes a little creativity sometimes, but what a great feeling to be back on the road.
I've been driving mine on the road forever. I drove to the 1st Chrysler Car Club Convention in 81 (became Mopar Nats before "Mopar" was confiscated.  Every trip is an adventure and another chapter. I don't mind hitting the road by myself when friends are too busy and my wife has to work. That's why MEK's cruise trip was interesting.  Where can you get a chapter like that in your book for free.

What I miss is seeing other Mopars while on the highway. I used to see Superbirds, Cudas, etc.   I plan on doing the Power Tour again in 2014. NC to WI. Think of 3000 cars all cruising 2 to 3 hundred miles a day for 5 straight days. What a blast! I make new friends every year, and see others from prior years.

Glad you made it home . . . I also made it home with no issues but as you know, I had a flat tire on the ride out and sat on the highway for a couple hours.  Big thanks to Andy for helping me out and getting the tires fixed while I sat on the side of the road with the car.   :grinyes:

As I was telling you....My friend from Innisville that knows you swears he's driving down his 68 Barracuda once it's finished....I told him when he does I'll drive one of mine with him....

I had a flat in my truck on the 290...I would have hated to have that happen in my Challenger....couldn't imagine using the bumper jack :22yikes:

I replaced my 4 tires 3 weeks ago. When one of my front tires needed replacing due to a bad belt, they were 6 years old, I said replace them both. My rears, I got from a member here years ago with the 10" wheels. Date coded them, 17 years old! Replaced them too!  I have 2 friends that blew out tires on trips and it tore up stuff that required at least $700 in body work. With the 2600 miles that I just drove in 2 weeks, one thing that I didn't worry about was my tires.
