Gran Coupe Door Panels - Woodgrain Inserts
« on: July 15, 2013 - 06:14:42 PM »
Does anyone make a set of the woodgrain inserts with the metal tabs.  Someone along the line put Gran Coupe door panels and quarters in my 74 Cuda.  They look OK for being old, but the trim broke on the driver's side rear quarter trim and it's sticking out.

If not available, has anyone come up with a good idea for using something else in the grooves to covers the holes in the panels that accepted the wood trim?  I would be OK with something black if it fit into the groove and stayed there.  Thanks.

I would like the trim if you don't want it. I can trade you Cuda panels or cash

If I can find something else that's suitable in the grooves I may sell the trim.  The panels aren't perfect but they're in good condition.  I guess that's why someone switched them.

The metal tabs are just glued onto the back.  you can make a simple clip, and glue it on to the strip, then reattach to your door panel.  I wish someone would re-pop both the woodgrain strip, and the clips. but i suppose the market is not too great for either of them.

Headliners are made, the inserts are not.

Another angle on this is that the houndstooth interior cars had red trim inserts instead of wood grain. Perhaps, someone could make one mold and use it to repop both?

Interior P5X9 in a Gran Coupe. From what I understand is the red door trim only came in Gran Coupes with P5X9 interior (houndstooth). Cudas had that interior as an option but without the door inserts if I recall. But I could be wrong.

If they had that they prolly had the overhead console as-well. I know there are Cuda's that got em.
