71 Challenger Seat belts
« on: July 16, 2013 - 08:12:48 PM »
Hey Gang...
Just got a complete reproduction set of seat belts for my friend's '71 Challenger R/T. I have some questions if I may...

1. These go to the back and there are only two lapbelts in the rear, no? Do these go in the middle or attach to the outboard side next to the interior panel? If they do go in the middle, are there any spacers between the anchor mounts on the belts or do they just lay on top of one another and the attach bolt slips through and screws in to the floor pan. The FSM leaves a lot to be desired.....

2. Something doesn't look correct on this. Laying them out so all the latches lay the same way, the OEM versions have the longest belt on the bottom whereas the longest on the reproductions are on the top.. ???
These I'm taking it are the front inside assemblies

3. These are the other side of the rear seat belt assemblies. As relative to ( 1.), do these go in the middle or outboard in the rear. And, if in the middle, are there any spacers between the mounting points of the belts or do they just lay on top of one another?

EDIT: Most belts have the originals and reproductions next two each other..... Oppsssssssss

That is NOWHERE near the correct set of belts for a 1971 Challenger. First off..the female part with the button...there should only be 6 total...two in the rear and two on each side in the front...
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Alan, I placed the originals next to the reproductions... Does that make sense?

The numbers are pointing to the reproductions............

Duh :screwy: I guess I'm out in the heat too long...I'm sorry for my idiot knee-jerk reaction.... :banghead:

There's no spacers used on an E Body
#3 inboard rears bolted directly to the floor
#1 Outboard rears
#2 Appear to be sewn wrong, but they still work.

Not sure why you bought new ones, the originals look nice. You can sell the originals for a decent price if they're complete.

It is what my buddy wanted to do.... I will mentor him on the originals, with the proper date code tags and all...... He bought them on his own and just brought them over with more "stuff" to put back on.....  Cool... Seat belts go back on today... With the rain we're having, the garage will be cooler..... Whew......
