I know there are a few guys out there that are in a far worse predicament than me (ok so a lot more than a few) but I need to vent and this is the only place my wife won't see it!!!
3 weeks ago my wife stepped off a curb and twisted and fractured her ankle. At least the doc says he thinks there may be hairline fracture.
The ortho doc puts her in an aircast / walking boot. So she is mobile but can't drive. Took her about 3 days to go stir crazy. Meanwhile my job is to get the kids all the places they need to go. Good thing I have a desk job with no real office hours.
So today at the follow up appointment, they take new xrays and the doc comes in, same doc we saw before, and he says, so how long ago did this happen and what did you do....was it broke or twisted? MY wife and I glanced at each other like...huh??? She tells him 3 weeks ago. He says that it looks like she strained some ligaments...maybe. Have you started Physio?...never said anything about that, so no. Ok start weaning yourself off the boot...and start physio...at my practice. Have a great day...oh the xrays look good! See you in 4 weeks.
My wife and I look at each other, wean off the boot, well for how long, each day...he says as much as your comfortable but don't go too much...as he is walking out the door.
I just left shaking my head...can she put weight on it or not??? More questiosn than answeres.
My poor wife is in tears in the car, because she just wants to be able to drive, or at least know how long it may take to be independent again.
I left feeling like cattle, push them in push them out. Felt like the doc could not even be botherd to look at his notes from the last visit.
Just annoyed I guess.
Think I will get her to follow up with our family doc and see if she can get better care.
Thanks...needed to get that off my chest.
