Horn wiring
« on: July 18, 2013 - 02:23:32 AM »
My 74 cuda only has one horn mounted on the drivers side and believe it's the low note. Looking at my horn and of others on-line, I don't see a second blade connection to chain a second horn together. The wiring for my horn isn't split nor does it look like it was cut. Can someone provide some insight on how the second horn is wired. Is it connected directly to the first horn in the chain or is the wire supposed to split?

Thanks,
-Chad

Where is your horn located? They should be in the center right behind the grill. Earlier years had them mounted on the PS inner fender. On my Challenger, the horn wire branches off the front light harness. It's covered in braided cloth tape until it gets past the hood latch. There is one wire that goes to the DS horn. The wire for the PS horn is crimped onto the spade terminal that plugs into the DS horn.

The horn is mounted behind the grill in the right location. The PS horn and bracket are missing. There has been a ton of work on the car including electrical but the wire looks original, green with a stripe (maybe yellow)? However, there is not a second wire coming out of the spade terminal nor does it look like one existed. I will take another look though. The horn works its just missing its twin.

Thanks for the help.
