Compression #'s

I'm not an expert in high compression engines, but looking at the compression drop between 5 and 6 seems like an issue.  140 seems fine, ,but when I see 165....  I'm just looking at the 18% difference. why is #5 plug compressing so low?

15% is a guideline for max descrepancy , could be just a worn valve guide allowing the valve not to seal 100%

Well fired the 'Cuda after work with my fingers crossed - guess I'm pulling the heads this winter as it is still puffing. Does anybody know what a good head rebuild would cost approx - they are Eddy Performer RPM and are ported already but could probably handle some improvements. Any suggestions in the Calgary area - I am not against shipping elsewhere - Canada preferred. The Indy's are still a very tempting option though.

I never found a machinist I could trust in Calgary , I can tell you all the ones to avoid from experience .
I had ported a set of 452s & installed them on a 440 , he swapped to eddy RPM ,I ported them & it was a nightmare swap , cost well over #k , we went back to the dyno & his gain was 3 rwhp , you woul dfind some power with Indys Ez heads

I know CP - I have heard the same about machinists / engine builders in Calgary although I have no direct experience. I do however try to listen to advice given if its the same over and over.

I am quite certain a Indy head and a cam swap are the winter project - although it is still early and I have been known to change my mind constantly in regards to the 'Cuda off season wish list.

Well, since you did ask and prefer to remain in Canada; ERD (engine research development) 2390 South Service Rd., Jordan Station, in Ontario, L0R1S0 905-562-3966, website erdengines.com are a great engine shop and were running a pro mod for quite a while. They build most of the spec circle track engines around here and have an on-site engine dyno. Talk to Terry or Robbie or Karl, they're all racers. They have ALL the equipment to do the heads professionally and alum heads shouldn't break the bank to ship to them. Highly recommend them. Ian
