Well I've done it again! I've managed to break the driver seat back support in half
Lets see now, My old 1971 Duster, my old 1984 Dodge RamCharger 4x4, and now my 1972 Challenger, all broke in the same spot!!! Not sure why, I'm NOT over weight at all, about 215-218Lb's. Maybe it just has something to do with being 6'5 and more of my weight sits higher up on the seat (bending leverage)? :dontknow: But I need to find some seats.
Anyway I found the exact same seats that Limecuda posted which Summit sells for $209.00, at KRAGEN auto parts for 119.99, then after a mail in rebate they're only $99.99!!!!! The sale is good through August 27, 2005.
The one thing I saw that I didn't like was that they don't have a lever to make them go forward so someone can get into the back seat. They do have a knob that you have to twist a million times that makes the seat tilt back or farward, but for quick back seat entry that won't work.
But with my stock seats, if you slide the seat all the way forward there was enough room on my 72 Challenger to slide into back back seat.
I also noticed that there seems to be just two bolts holding each upper side to the lower, so it might be possible to remove the rear bolts and replace it with some type of pull pin. The type that have the little roller ball inside like a rachet and you can find at and good hardware store.
Then you could just pull the two rear pins and the seat may just swing forward, but I'll have to see for sure.
I agree with NZ440R/T that if I use these I'll have to make the inside a little more updated too look right.
But I though of a couple of cool ideas that just might do it!
