New Guy from Texas
« on: July 23, 2013 - 06:40:57 PM »
Greetings!

After not reading the instructions (you know men)...I finally figured out I need to post 3 times before I can alter my profile.

I am a long time car guy. I have owned my '70 Barracuda for 24 years. This is the first forum site I've registered on...seems to have the best folks.

Here is a link to my new site which shows my car: http://www.oligulyas.com/Plymouth_Barracuda.html

In High School, I did have a '68 Charger, that is what got me hooked on Mopar

Yes (if you look thru my site) I replaced my vinyl top... by myself. That is why I say "my sickness runs deep"

Sweating in Texas,

Oli

Welcome! I lived in Texas a few years back, now I'm in Louisiana. Nice to have another southern Mopar!

Thanks to all the "welcomes" and nice comments on my car.

Lots of cool rides on this site...and I haven't even really dug in yet.

I'll admit that my Barracuda was neglected (sitting in the garage) for most of the last 21 years. Marriage, starting a business, etc. got in the way. I only averaged about 250 miles per year on it. I finally realized I need to really go thru it before rust and other issues make it worse later.

Beginning in November 2012 and ending roughly April I worked on it weekends and weeknights. Now that the heat set in, I'll wait on the final large items like fuel tank replacement, painting underside of trunk lid and replace the a/c.

After driving around again, it brought back all the memories of why I love this car

Attached is a pic of the engine bay after refurbishment:

I think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on my a/c replacement earlier than anticipated...it is just too hot here to drive a car with no a/c and "Black" vinyl top. Plus, a dog can fart more air flow than my old dash fan...and once the headers warm up, it only blows warm air anyways.

After hours and hours of research (actually this subject is what brought me here) it seems like Bouchillon Performance has the right adapters (plus Vintage Air Gen. IV kit) to make it a one stop shop. I still can't believe there is not more info on adding or upgrading a/c on a small block w/6-pak. I must have Googled/Binged the phrase 30 different ways...very little info I could find. Even Vintage Air which is about a 20-minute drive from here was stumped and needed a few days to research what other parts I'll need. I'll post this progress.

So, in theory this is my 3rd post, now hopefully I can be a legit member  :drunk:

...some more pictures (yes, I added more interior (LED) hidden lights

Welcome. That is a beautiful car. Plus, I'm always impressed by how many of us have had our cars for decades.
