Challenger seats
« on: July 26, 2013 - 08:01:14 PM »
So I was wondering, what is the difference in seat covers for challengers.  In looking in the classic industries catalog, and I see the available patters are different for different years, but I was wondering if I could put new 70 style seat covers over my 73 foam?  Or is the foam shape different?  Thanks guys!

I'd presume they're the same, but I would check the Legendary catalog, or better yet, call their customer service.  They are very accommodating and could probably tell you right over the phone.

70s had hard plastic seat backs which the 73s do not have.  I would assume there is no material under the seat back on a 70 so using that pattern on a 73 wouldn't work (unless you mounted a seat back...if that's possible?)

I would contact Legendary Interiors as FY1Cuda suggested.

You can't order 70 seat covers for a 73, but maybe they can customize the pattern for you and make it look like 70 seat covers.

Those look like 71-early 72 seats. Late 72 went to the soft back.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Those definitely aren't 70 or 71 Challenger seats.

I wonder if someone morphed a 70 seat back on a later year Challenger seat?    :dunno:

That's the widest seat release button I've ever seen. These have to be seats from something other than an E-Body.

These are definatly not 70 seats, the 70 seats had the seat belt retractor under the carpet and the seat belt went through the bottom of the bracket where the release button is.

The seats you have pictured are from a 1972 Challenger or Cuda.

I would assume you could put 70 covers on them, but I think 70 foam would be highly recommended. :2cents:
