Anyone here used Mancini's 120amp alternator kit?
« on: July 27, 2013 - 10:48:20 PM »
This one.... http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/mabwealbrkit.html

There is no picture on Mancini's web site, just wondering if it's a Denso type alternator, or?  :dunno:
Any pictures of one mounted to a B block?  :picture:
Curious to see how it mounts?

I just ordered the Mancini kit : Ill post when I install it:

Note:  Im running FI ignition and MSD on my 71 Cuda 440.   The stock 60 amp Im running now really isnt doing the job

I did a 100 amp conversion a few years ago on my FI  427, '68 Vette<  I can tell,  it woke up everything up.  It is well worth the money to upgrade, even if you are running stock everything

FWIW, I've had a chrome Powermaster 80 Amp alternator on my car for 8 years now.

No dimming of headlight at red lights. No amp gauge going into the discharge range. I went this way when I added an after-market amplifier in my trunk.   :naughty:

I got mine about 4 years ago from DB electrical off e-bay, chrome, Mopar style 95 amp I believe?  How do you figure out how many amps your car requires? I assume you add up electrical components , but figuring out how much the draw is what I don't know? Eg electric fan, MSD box, etc....

not trying to hijack this thread, but...what is involved in upgrading from an OEM 60 amp, single pulley alternator to a 80 or 100 amp alternator?  Is it a plug n play type of install?

Mine was just plug and play? I ran a heavier wire from the alternator lug right to the battery? :dunno:

Brad.....thanks for the link.  I'm tired of the slow motion of blinkers and dimming headlights at an idle.  Will 95 amps cure the brownouts?
the new alternator mounts to the brackets the same way as the original....right?

I don't have any of that and it bolted right up to the brackets I had on the car.
