Quick-Reply text box too wide
« on: July 29, 2013 - 04:44:01 PM »
Hanging out with 4C this weekend we got to talking - I noticed that when he accessed the board from his iPad, it looked normal, while on mine the forum discussion always gets scrunched to one side...

I pointed out that mine does this because of the Quick Reply text box at the bottom of each thread I open.  His reponse was, "What Quick Reply text box?!"   :dunno:

This is my iPhone and not my iPad, but here's what my screen looks like on either when I scroll to the bottom.  The large box across the screen is the fast reply.  I get the same issue on my regular PC, but only when I type in the reply box and my text extends beyond the screen - suddenly the screen will jump to the right and I can no longer see the rest of the page.

I don't know if the dimesions of the Quick-Reply text box can be changed in the code?  I also don't know why 4C doesn't even see one and I do.  I looked for options to turn it off and didn't see one in my profile settings.  (I kinda like it there though...)

Anyways, just wanted to throw this out there.

Thanks!

To have Quick Reply is an option in your profile under look & layout.  The screwy extended quick reply box appeared some time in the last year or so,I use a PC with Firefox browser, not the end of the world.

Under Look and Layout there is a choice:

Use quick reply on topic display

Well, that's the catch-22.  I like the quick-reply box because then my mobile device doesn't have to load all the emoticons.  But this is how the page looks on my iPad.

I mean, a quick change to the dimensions in the HTML or PHP code would take care of it in a jiffy for everyone regardless of their profile settings.

Is it possible you have "Use sidebar menus instead of dropdown menus when possible" checked under Look & Layout?  if so uncheck & see what you get.
My quick reply is at the bottom.

My quick reply is at the bottom.

Mine is too, but it's 3-4 times as wide as the main layout of the page.

I'll try to play with some of these options.  I take it no one else has this issue??
