As much as a ripoff Illinois is for taxes and fees, the vanity antique plates are an exception.  You pay for a vanity plate, and every 4 years when you renew there is no extra charge for the vanity plate.  Regular license plates you pay extra every year when you renew if you have vanity plates.  I've had this plate on my '70 383 4 barrel Challenger since 1997, paid $75 extra for RTSTUF (R/T Stuff) when I first got the plates, and every 4 years get a antique plate renewal bill for $45.
A couple years back when I got my '71 Challenger, I ordered vanity plates "V CODE" for it.  It is up to $125 now for the vanity plate, but I'll still only pay $45 every 4 years to renew it.

In Georgia they allow you to run a tag that is correct for the year of the cars manufacture. I am running a 1969 license plate that is actually correct from my county of residence. I have to keep the current "new" style tag for the car in the car along with the paperwork allowing the 1969 tag to be run.....   :bigshades:

The top plate is an original 72-74 Iowa plate.  The one on the bottom is the reproduction I'm running.  Since my dad bought the car new, I still had the original title to look at.  The original plate number was on the title so that's what I had made up.

One thing good I'll say about Wis Collector plates... once you getem' that number is yours.... always. No extra fees. If you get a 2nd car then your number ends with an "A' but same number , then B-C-D  ect

I just got "44D SIX"       In Vermont, for some reason they won't allow 3 digits in a row ( including the letter "O") so I was limited......

I just can't stand the CA white plates.  :2cents:

Wished I had personalized Blue and yellow ones.
Most don't like those but they are the correct era for these cars from CA.

I had a plate on my front bumper that read: TI 3VOM

In the car in front of me's mirror, it read MOVE IT.
