I Am trying to track down a proper year of manufacture plate but here in Ontario they stoped issuing plates every year after 1972. In 1973 they issued you a plate with a corner for a renewal sticker, it was the last year of plates to have an actual date on them. Exception still being farm plates, diplomatic plates, truck plates, bus plates etc...

Techincally my 74 should have a 1973 plate with a sticker or a plate with no year on it at all and a sticker.

Right now I have a plate with BJND.

I just can't stand the CA white plates.  :2cents:

Wished I had personalized Blue and yellow ones.
Most don't like those but they are the correct era for these cars from CA.

Have you ordered your blue plates on the DMV website.  They need 7500 ordered before they start production.

They are at http://www.dmv.ca.gov/legacyplates/index.htm

MA has a year of manufacture law that says if you have a clean example of a plate that was originally issued you can register your antique with it.  My neighbor collected license plates since the 60's.  I raided his collection and got a good example of a 5 digit low number plate in the white/blue color scheme used in 72.  RMV registered it just fine, and even remarked on the good condition of the plate.  A couple years later I got my 2012 Challenger and asked if I could register it under the same number, only as a passenger car not an antique.  They let it through!  Now when I run the plate number it comes back to me on a 72 Challenger and also a 12 Challenger.  Makes it kinda tough to say it wasn't me! :dunno:
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

Is there a CA.gov website where you can check to see if a plate number/letters is already taken?
would be good if they did.

Find a number that's available and have these guys make it?  I've used their plates before and they are top notch!

Wow I never noticed that.  CA is the only state they skip.  Maybe they were sued?  Might be worth a call in to see if they can arrange something off the website or at least an explanation why?  I've run MA versions of his plates and unless you are a plate geek you can't tell the difference.  I've heard good things from other states as well.  I've heard CA can be super strict when it comes to their blue and black plates.

Back in high school I had M FALCN. Older people (at the time, now they would be people my age  ) used to say to me "You must really love The Maltese Falcon!"  :roflsmiley:

"She'll make point five past light speed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, and I've made a lot of special modifications myself."
