SRT Viper seats in a Cuda?
« on: August 01, 2013 - 01:53:12 AM »
Just curious if anyone has used the srt 4 viper style seats in an e body? I picked up a set for cheap and have still not put them to use. Anyone have experience with this?

I found this on a Mopar mag a few years ago. First gen Viper seats. It was in a Cuda vert. I REALLY like the idea and have been searching for a pair of seats but can't find any that are not gold plated.  What year did you get?

Price is exactly why I haven't pursued Viper seats, althought they are comfortable. Instead, I went with Toyota Supra seats. I found the uneven floor layout of the E body requires to creative adaptation with spacers, cutting, and blocks to get the seat to sit level. I'd imagine a Viper seat will have the same needs as their floorboards tend to be flatter.

The seats I'm referring to are from a Neon srt 4, all though they are identical to the viper seats. I picked these up for 150 with the intent of putting them in my Daytona r/t, but they were just too tall to fit in the little hatch back. I figure they will fit nicely in the cuda, and look pretty cool too!

What would be a good price for Viper seats?

Most of them I've seen have been around $500-600 a pair. By contrast. my Supra seats were $75 for the pair. Turbo224's Neon seats for $150 are a very decent price too.

A lot of these performance seats look like they're either made for midgets or to induce a humpback. The Viper seats looked like they were more or less vertical in the back which is something I look for.

If I could find some 1st gen Viper seats in good shape around here for 5-600 I might bite, but they seem to be asking 1K or more for worn out junk. I noticed the SRT Neon seat but they are nowhere to be found in my neck of the woods. Shipping is usually a deal killer.

Yeah, shipping is always a deal breaker. Five years ago there were srt 4s being wrecked all the time by some punk kid, that's when I bought mine. I think they have dried up considerably. Watch Craig's list and I'm sure some will pop up eventually.

My 82 supra had those seats, with that sphygmomanometer type squeeze bulb for the lumbar support. Brings back memories.
So, the SR4 seats are the same as the vipers? I didnt know that.

Has anyone actually installed the SRT4 seats yet?  Curious how much modifying / cutting / hacking is required.  And the end result?
There's a rough set near me for $250.
