Been looking for a gen 2 Charger for a while.  You can get a nice one for 45K.  For one in that shape...probably 15K max...and only that high if it has a desirable VIN and that rust is all surface rust.

I almost got this one (sold before I could get it looked at):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-Dodge-Charger-Base-Hardtop-2-Door-/350843367908?_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&forcev4exp=true#ht_500wt_1182

Less desirable but better documented/better shape:

This is what you should get in the high 30s low 40s:

Haven't really been "looking". But things are sent my way (70 GTX  :bigshades: always wanted one) ( and a host of others. ) and I buy them if I can. A 69 would be my "preferred "year that's for sure. Some end up being just parts cars.  Did you read my link from the post 2 years ago... this guy is nuts!  :screwy:

Other than being a 440-6 4 speed it doesn`t have much going for it. Non matching numbers, no fender tag od BS, green, needs complete resto....   :dunno:

I agree with $15K MAX.....I wouldn't even consider it at that price...Bad investment with no documentation and not numbers matching....

Yeah he's crazy...or off his meds...whatever :)  I prefer the 68/70 because I don't like the divided grill of the 69....but I seem to be in the minority :)  Based on some of the information given in the other post...I'd probably lower my max to 10 or 12K (you said the rust was really bad).  You're going to be way deep into that car money wise (rust repair...engine rebuild) before you're even driving it.  Then if you want paint, complete interior, upgrades....  :money:

Jeff - I agree with you and I haven't even heard it. If there's any gas whatsoever it gotta be varnish by now...

ANL - I offered way less than that(15K)  2 years ago. He always has claims about how much $$$ he's been offered. Read the post from 2 years ago... this guy is wacked!

Jamiez - Personally I feel 10-12 is too high. Its gonna need quarters and lord knows what the floors will look like after all the crap is outa there. Wish my camera battery wouldn't have died.

OK....Now I feel like I'm wacked :banghead:...I just read the other thread and looked at the pictures closer....

The price would have to be under $10K for anybody with half a brain to bite....

I used to say any V code car is worth $15K, but now I'm not so sure...

When I say 10-12k is the max.....I mean if you had always wanted a 70s charger and had no luck finding one close enough to you, and had the tools, time and desire to restore a car....then it's 10-12K.

In your case, where you just happened upon it...5-8k....but based on what I've read he probably won't let it go cheap.

that's why I found my old thread... it give a better perspective.  :grinyes:  believe me talking to this guy today brought it all back. Certain people just leave a weird impression......  :screwy: He talks like this car will bring all the bank and then some. But now he's busted, and its getting more rusted....  and he's got no money to pay for the current storage as mom died a few months back so its not in her garage anymore.

My guess is that would feel more like it fell on your head than in your lap.   :clueless:

That's one of those cars where if you have all the crap to restore it yourself and the facility it's a buy. That things needs to be sand blasted every way from Sunday. VERY difficult to get matching numbers these days, you'll pay sick $$$.

I agree with under 10K for sure. 70 seems to be the least desirable of the 68-69-and 70 If it didn't have the 6 pack what would it be worth? Less I'd say. But you can't count on the motor not needing a total rebuild. :2cents:
My guess is that would feel more like it fell on your head than in your lap.   :clueless:
