retarded timing can make it run hot.  After run is usually caused by the throttle blades being open too much at idle.  The factory put idle solenoids on some cars in the old days that opened the blades a little when the key was turned on and closed them when the engine was shut down.  Most that I recall were from the days when the factory was trying to improve emissions by using retarded timing...so the combination is not so good

Besides timing. an after run issue can be caused by using too low of an octane gas. Or maybe your idle is set too high?  Just throwing out some other possibilities.

Agreed, the whole garage and my clothes stink after driving the car.  Doesn't help that the crappy gas continues to burn off / evaporate after the car is shut off.

Its a brand new QFT carb. No leaky power valve. My Tiger that I used to have did the same thing. In fact every muscle car I owned, I smell like exhaust after driving it.

I have to air out the garage for a while after driving from gas fumes, I smell like I have been Go - Karting all day after a longer drive.

Since I've fixed this problem no stink.... my wife rides in this car often. If it reeked.... she'd be vocal about it............  :grinyes:

my wife complains of the smell when I am messing with the car or after I pull in.

I tell her it's just fish breath.  Lol

Good call, Neil. You're a good guy, you should get the prize. Should we install CATS in our exhaust?

I tried that with another car and it didnt work out well.  Ended up with sluggish performance.
