A small update on progress....

I was able to remove all the rear and front suspension as well as remove all the steering linkage and k-member.  The front suspension and steering parts are at the restoration shop getting cleaned and painted.  The rear stuff will follow next week.

I did get back my pedals from the restoration shop, they came out nice.  I installed them in the car this last weekend.

Once I get the suspension back in and the car back on it's wheels then the engine and tranny will go back in and things should start to move along a little quicker.  The bottle neck is just getting stuff done at the restoration shop.  They do good work but sometimes they move slow.

Here is a pict of the car with the suspension removed and a couple of the pedal assembly.

sadil340 this is something I went back and forth on.  You know the tradeoff.... doing it yourself to save money vs spending a lot more money and having it come out much nicer.   :big smile:  Once I cleaned the first layer of grease and dirt off the parts I realized that I was either going to have to get the parts sand blasted or spend a crazy amount of hours stripping off the paint and the rest of the grease and dirt to get it ready to paint.  I came to the conclusion that getting the parts sandblasted was the only way to go as this would give me a much better starting point for paint then cleaning it myself (not to mention the time saved).  The trade-off is obviously money but I felt this was money well spent.  So once I came to that conclusion I decided I might as well consider having the shop paint them as well.

Small progress update....

The front suspension pieces came back from the restoration shop this week.  I installed the K-frame and all the front end pieces.  I still need to install the torsion bars as well as the brakes and rotors.  The rotors and wheel bearings where shot so I need to find replacement parts for these.

Just a side note.... I know some of the front end parts are not painted OEM correct colors but for my build I am going for a clean restored look not, necessarily OEM correct.  With that in mind, the lower control arms got painted black because I forgot to tell the paint shop to paint them silver.  When I picked them up they looked so nice that i decided to just keep them black as opposed to have them redone.  The torsion bars where blasted and clear coated just to do something different, this was done on purpose.

Last week I installed new brakes lines as well as the rebuilt brake booster.  I also had previously installed the heater box, and wiper motor a couple of weeks ago.

The rear axle and leaf springs went out this week for cleaning and painting.  Hope to get those back in a couple of weeks and get the engine in shortly after (engine is already painted and sitting at the restoration shop).

Here are a couple of pictures of the engine compartment showing current progress.

That's looking nice and clean. May I suggest painting the camber access plates satin black? It will make for a nice contrast with the Y1.

Looking good! I wish I could start putting mine together like that. Good call on the T-bars! Is it OK to paint T-bars and leaf springs with any type of color, since they are twisting a bit?
