Anyone using QA1 tubular k member or tubular lower control arms?  Curious as to quality, I know they make good shocks.  Also, was wondering about the weight savings, no info on the site about weight.  Thanks guys, you rock.

I don't know anything about the k-frame but I'm looking pretty hard at their double adjustable shocks?

I have the lower control arms before qa1 bought out cap automotive there not bad i have autocrossed and dragged them and haven't had an issue yet

I have singles on the rear and really like them.  So much so I bought doubles for the front and installed them.....unfortunately I haven't driven it yet.

What size torsion bats are you running with them?

I don't think the K frame is actually released for production and they are still in a late prototype stage. They might be pre-selling orders for it, but you might confirm with them or the distributor your working with.

Ball park figure for weight loss I believe will be no more than 30# total if you use their entire package with a R&P. The K frame itself is not hugely lighter as they had to add in additional tubing to retain strength, but they also are claiming they have improved rigidity with their design over the original K. I "think" the frame is designed to use either an R&P or a stock style box, plus it retains torsion bars.

Overall it is going to give AlterK a run for the money. I think the entire  QA1 set plus brakes and suspension can be put together for about a grand less than a comparably equipped AlterK, plus you can do it in stages over time.

Thanks HP2, I was thinkin about building over time, with a hotchkis TVS, 1.12 torsion bars, nice shocks then eventually the l Frame and LCAs from qa1, thinking the k frame and LCAs would save just enough weight to counter the added weight of the sub frame connectors from hotchkis, as well as the XV Motorsports shock tower brace

I had a set of CAP's lower control arms on my Challenger. HAD being the key word. They cracked at one of the welds, allowing the LCA to bend slightly. I noticed the car sitting lower on that side and found the damage. This was with nothing other than street driving, although with 1.12" FFI torsion bars and 275/40/17 tires...

QA1 has done a lot to redesign all of the CAP parts, and the new versions look a lot more substantial than the CAP stuff. I actually don't think the CAP design was bad to begin with, but the welding they sent out the door was AWFUL. Cold MIG welds, little penetration, and they sent it all out the door. Had the welding been good, I don't think there would have been any problems with their parts.

I wouldn't have any problems at all running the new QA1 parts, but I would suggest pulling anything made by CAP. At the very least, I would pull anything CAP made, have the powdercoating bead blasted off of it, inspect the welds, and reinforce and re-weld anything that even looked a little suspicious. Just my .02. Had I done that with my CAP LCA's I could have saved them, but they're pretty much junk at this point.

Yeah I was about to drive it almost 5 hours down to watch MotoGP at Laguna Seca last year. I'd noticed it was sitting a bit low on that side, but it was only maybe a half inch so I didn't think too much of it. Anyway, when I was doing my once over before the trip I checked out that side a little more. I figured the torsion bar adjuster had slipped a bit or something, I didn't expect to find that the LCA had failed. I'd driven it around town for a week or so after I noticed the sag too.  :22yikes:
