Finally got my CUDA! Need shop reference
« on: August 14, 2013 - 02:43:10 PM »
After a year plus of searching, then an additional 4 months of phone conversations, over a hundred photos sent, an inspection, and setting up enclosed transport from FL to CA, my 70 Cuda rolled off the transporter into my hands last Monday     :jumping:

The car is more than I imagined, beautiful, mean looking, and it sounds incredible. The short ride I took to the gas station got thumbs up all along the way and it draws people to come ask about it. All my pics are too large to attach here so I gotta take some smaller ones and I'll post a few.

I can do minor mechanical stuff but I'd like to find a shop in my area that I can trust my car to in case it ever needs more than I can do. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in California if anyone knows of a reputable hot rod shop or one that specializes in vintage cars that they can recommend. Thanks in advance for any help.

The big pics are best but I'll try these, gives you the idea...

70 Cuda resto-mod / pro-touring
Finished Dec 2012. 355 miles on it since rotisserie restoration. He sent pics of the car as an empty shell on the rotisserie and it's amazing to see what it looked like and the progress as it was built. New Hotchkis suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, Viper seats, all new custom console and dash, Marshall gauges, TKO 5-speed tranny, rebuilt 440 motor around 475 hp, shaker hood, undercarriage painted and clear coated, frame supports, heat and air and lots more. I know the purist here will say "whatever" (LOL) but this is one bad ass car that's fun to drive. I had Chargers, Roadrunners and Mustangs as a teen, always wanted a Cuda but never got one. Now at 55 I get my Cuda.

Congrats.  Looks great!  What's under the bonnet?  I don't remember blue being in your color spec.  But good catch.

First welcome to the board. Nice Cuda and is already done . I will look into changing out the pedals though, IMO  :). I am in Millbrae, CA so love to see your car in person someday.

FYI, there will be a car show "Millbrae Machines" sponsored by the Millbrae Lions Club this coming Saturday March 17. Check it out, usually there are a few Mopars there.

I was going to suggest that you can look into Campbell Auto Restoration, very nice people, but your car is already done. They might however do maintenance work or trouble shooting on classics and customs. Alternately, check out Normandin Dodge in San Jose. I heard they work on classic Mopars too. If you like to see some nice Mopars or to show yours or talk to the man in charge, take a look at this show at Normandin Dodge in September. Please note 120 cars maximum. I will be attending the show with my club.

Well I guess I'll have to see this one in person as I'm sure a few others in the Bay Area would like to....

It looks like the car has been gone through and doesn't need much work, I guess it really depends on what you need to have done to the car.

My theory is that you show up with that car and tell someone you want them to work on it - they will see $$$$. JMHO...j

I'm sure folks around here would be more than willing to help you out.

Congrats.  Looks great!  What's under the bonnet?  I don't remember blue being in your color spec.  But good catch.

TMAN, you have a good memory from my earlier posts. My first preference was black, 2nd was plum crazy, next was blue. When I saw how deep and rich this blue was (Viper blue) including the underside, I was sold. Plus, it matches the Cobalt blue on my Harley...  :2thumbs:

Under the bonnet is a fresh 440 true 10-1/2:1 motor, moderate cam, demon 4-bbl carb, puts out around 475 h.p. Has more power and torque than I imagined, sounds and feels incredible, and super fun to drive.

I'd love to get hooked up with others in the San Francisco Bay Area here in CA, share a beer and make new friends. I race motocross and I'm getting too old for that crap  :icon16: so my Cuda is my new passion. I'm in the Walnut Creek / Concord / Martinez area of Contra Costa County here in CA if anyone is nearby.
