The only way you can truly compare a vehicle from 1971 to today's car in terms of price is to adjust for inflation to see what the '71 Chally would cost in today's dollars. Also, with 40+ yrs of improvements in technology can a '71 Chally really be compared to today's modern Chally?

Sorry, but the new Mopars would still be FAR superior to the car in your list.  I've done many of the upgrades to my 71 Cuda.  It's still a dinosaur compared to my newer Mopars.  ABS, traction control, air bags, fuel injection, power everything, adjustable steering wheel, no rattles, etc.  There are several things on that list you can't buy and bolt on.  The only thing the old Challenger has over the new one is looks.  The new car kind of looks like an old Challenger, but it's too square.  They missed the subtle curves that really give the old Challenger it's visual appeal.

Drive both back to back, and you'll see the new one has superior power, comfort, safety, and fuel mileage.

Compare a Boeing 707 to a 787.  Seriously, there's no comparison.


However, either you appreciate the old one for what it is, a time capsule of what was cutting edge for 1970, or improve upon that old relic, which is what the whole Pro-touring movement is all about.  However, that will cost you an easy $100k for it to be close to everything that new $50k SRT can provide.

I don't consider the first 3 on your list to be "upgrades"  ABS ,Traction control & airbags are hardly upgrades
 I want a Viper just so I can still buy a newer car without all the crap , overall I agree that the newer cars are awesome  :2thumbs:

The number of people killed in car crashes in this country is almost half of what it was when e-bodies were in showrooms.  I'd say those three items are big upgrades.
