Sneak Peak 70 Barracuda
« on: August 16, 2013 - 10:19:40 AM »
Thanks for all of the welcomes on the newbie board, I'm already feeling comfortable here.

Well I transferred funds and got a signed title yesterday. I am doing the title work at DMV today and picking up my new ride tonight. It will be safely tucked away in my garage while I'm at the Front Range Car and Airplane show tomorrow in Watkins. I am so excited, I've never owned an 'E' body before, always thought they were out of reach for me and now I've found one I can afford. It is a 1970 FE5 Ralley Red 383 4 speed with 3.91s and a Ralley dash. The engine is out of it and is a basket case but the car itself is in excellent condition without any rust that I've been able to find. The car has been in storage since 1983 and only has just under 44k original miles. Dash is good, door cards good, heck I think I can even polish up the paint.

Here's a quick teaser look.

What's wrong with the engine? Unless it is broke in half, be sure you bring it home with you. This is definitely a car you want to keep numbers matching if possible.

The engine is complete (just all apart) and I already took it home last night. Unfortunately it must be a replacement engine because it is not numbers matching. The current owner said it had to have been replaced prior to his getting it in 1973 because he and his partner never changed the motor. The tranny on the other hand is numbers matching.

Jay if you are near the fender tag info feel free to post it. The only thing I have here (at work) is a PDF of what I sent you and it wouldn't post.

Very Nice find -  It's interesting to see your options as I have BH23N0 car as well

You don't see many of these pop up as most are BS23N code cars

It's home at last and got a good pressure washing once it arrived. It's time to start assessing what the plan of attack will be to get this car back on the road.

No doubt I'd have been happy with an AAR but I think I'm happier with a big block. I had a 383 once many years ago in my 69 Road Runner. That thing was a a whole bunch of fun, I'm guessing this will be even more so!
