70 charger
« on: March 30, 2005 - 07:01:04 AM »
I don't have a scanner, so I thought I'd take a pic of an old picture to see how it turned out.  This is the charger that I had during high school.  Any guesses to who is standing next to the car?

Yep, it’s Tom Wopat.  Rev is the winner!  :guitar:  He was performing at the Cerebral Palsy telethon in Southeast, MO that year.  I think it was in early ‘96.  He was signing autographs and I asked if he could come outside to pose with my car.  I wasn’t sure if he would or not, but he was pretty cool about it.

It was originally a HP 383/727 car.  Somewhere along the line before I got it a 440 was dropped in.  My parents helped me buy it the summer before my junior year of high school, up in Nebraska.  I sold in in ’99 because I couldn’t bring in with me when I moved to Florida.     :pissed:

Ahhhhh, here is another classic!  When I first got the car it was missing a couple lug nuts.  One day while making the last turn towards home it felt like the back end of the car dropped down all of a sudden.  I guess I was was lucky and the only damage was to lower corner of the fender.

Wow, nice charger whitesatin!  Don't get me wrong I like e-bodies a lot, but second gen chargers are awsome cars.

Anyone else got charger pics?

I also took a pic of a pic... ;D...I'll have to scan my pics one day.
This is my car in about 1988.

This was taken in 2001...it still looks exactly the same. :-\
But it sleeps in my garage.

I actually owned a '69 before I bought my '73 Challenger.  I had originally planned on restoring that car (bought it when I was 14), but it was too badly gone for me to rationalize putting all that money into it.  I don't have the photos I intentionally took of it, but here's one that you can just barely see the side of it.  It didn't run when I purchased it, but after a little bit of tuning and a new carburetor, I managed to get it running.  It was just a 318 auto a/c car in F-8 green with a black interior.

Eventually, I'd like to have another photo like this, but with fully restored cars sitting in there. :grinyes:  I still have a long time to find another '69 to do up later on anyways.

Nice car charger fan.  What are the details on it?  It almost looks like it could have been a twin to the car I had.  Mine was originally F-8 green w/ a white top and green interior.  What are your plans for it?  I am glad to hear that it is safe and sound inside a garage and not rotting outside.

Street challenged, I am sure when you get your '73 on the road you will forget all about the charger.  Do you still have that '69 or is it gone?
