I was at a cruise-in a few weeks ago and a lady walks up to my Challenger and looks into the engine compartment.  She then says to her husband, "That's what my Chevelle had in it, a 440".  Her husband says, "No honey I think that was a 454".  She then made it clear in no uncertain terms that "No it wasn't, it was a 440 just like that one".  Her husband looked over at me and I just smiled because I could tell he had better sense than to try and correct her a second time.

Just a few days ago I had to go to court on a work related issue and security at the entrance saw me pull in driving the hardtop . . . got in there and the first thing one of the officers asked is "what year is your charger?"   I said it's a 1973 . . . . . (pause)  barracuda.  lol  I would of thought the police would know the difference but I guess there are so many different cars, would be tough to know them all.  At least they were in the MOPAR field . . . .

I figure non-mopar people think the Charger is the only car Chrysler made back then.  :sly: When out in  my car, I get dozens of comments like "nice charger'. Once in a while I'll get "nice challenger" or "nice cuda". I don't bother correcting the nice cuda comments. I figure it's close enough.

I had a funny experience the other day, I was out looking at another unmentioned car for purchase. This kid was around 27 years old and thought he had a goldmine he owned for 6 months but he wants to sell it for his personal favorite the gutless cutless. Anyway, I proceeded to go all the way around his car and show him everything that is wrong with the car (floor pans, cowl, battery tray corroded out, gas tank rim rotted out, poor paint job with many many problems, etc). He tells me his price and then kindly tell him we are too far apart.

Later that nite, he texts me stating since I know so much about his car what price should he be charging for his car.  :clapping:

"what year is your charger?"   I said it's a 1973

A long time ago I had just picked up a parts car and was driving home, me in my Challenger, a buddy in the parts car. I pulled up beside him at a light to ask which route he wanted to take. A cop saw tow musclecars lined up at a stop light and decided that we were racing, so he pulled me over, then called in the parts car to his colleagues. He had the registration for my car, so I heard him on the radio describe my car correctly as a Challenger. Then, he described the completely identical parts car, which I had been right beside...as a Corvette  :roflsmiley:
