OK...don't shoot me, but this is the direction I'm leaning.  I saw this car for a couple years at the Nat's and just love it.  It wasn't there this year though.  I'd love to find out the wheel specs.  I know they are 18's in front and 20's in the rear.  I need to know the backspacing and if the wheel wells were widened/spring perches moved in.

My friend did some photoshop work on the picture for me....

The Dart in red made me think of Tach Mooney's Pro Street '68 Hemi Dart GTS convertible. Tach's car was red with a white top and it was Ba-Ba-Ba-Bada$$! Had a blown Hemi under the hood and some humongous "sticky-Mickeys" tucked into the wheel wells. I don't remember exactly where Tach was from, but I saw him and his car at some northern California shows and events in the early to mid 80's. Will have to see if I can roust up some pics of Tach's car. An modern updated version of Tach's car would be totally kicka$$!
Cheers!

The house is too quiet.  I needed something else to work on.  I just wish I had the room for it.  Right now it's in the driveway under a car cover.  I don't know what to do with it this winter.

Knock out the back wall of the garage and make it bigger? Think of all the time you'll save not having to cut so much grass in the back yard!! Win-win situation!

My lot isn't very big.  I don't know if the city would let me add on.  I'd like to put a 14-16' third stall on but I don't know if that would get to close to the street.

That's an incredible stance right there. I really like it.

FWIW, here's 18"x8" (front and rear) on an A body with 4.5" backspacing.

I know you went by the numbers with the Challenger, (and I can respect/appreciate that) but there are lots of us that don't concern ourselves with originality. There is a freedom with doing it the way you want, rather than following how the factory did it.
Make it how you think the factory should have.  My  :2cents:

The red car is from Ohio.  He only has a post count of 5 on FABO.  I PM'd him but I doubt I'll get a reply...it doesn't look like he's on that site much if any.  Anyone from Ohio that knows the car?  Here's what he had to say about wheel/tire size.

I am runnin 18 x 8" up front with 225-40-18 yokahama s-drives
 I have got 20 x 9.5" on the rear with 285-30-20 s-drives.
That is as big as you can get on the rear without tubs. Hope that helps !!

It doesn't sound like it's mini tubbed but maybe the trunk lip had to be removed?  The rears look WIDE!

It's alive!

I was bored last night so I went out to power wash the engine comp before starting the disassembly process.  When I bought the car, it fired off with some gas poured down the carb but wouldn't stay running.  I thought I'd try one more time to get it running, so I hooked up the jumper cables, put some gas in my small oil can and gave it a few squirts.  It fired up and died.  On the second try, it fired right up and stayed running.  It settled down to a nice idle too.  There are some exhaust leaks and the pipes were coated with oil so it started smoking pretty good but it runs.  At least I should be able to back it in the garage instead of trying to push it in there.  Actually, it probably won't run now that I power washed everything...oh well.  I might start the disassembly this weekend.

Well, I got it running again Friday night and was able to back it in the garage.  By the time I shut it off, the garage was filled with smoke.  My wife started coughing and had to go inside.  She told me later that she had to change clothes because they stunk so bad. :roflsmiley:

I started by taking a couple hundred pics of the engine compartment and the body.  I worked most of the weekend on it...removing a component, taking pics of it(along with what fastener was used to attach it) then taking a picture of where the part used to be.  I tell you, there are some goofy things up under the dash on this car.  Mainly the e-brake mechanism.  It's a completely different setup that I had to take many pictures of.  Right now, the interior is completely out of the car.  I'm leaving the glass inside the doors until it's time for the body to be worked on.  The windshield was already cracked so I just broke it even more with a hammer and pushed it out.  I was able to save the original windshield gasket that way.  Dad came over and helped me balance the dash assembly as we pulled it out.

Last night I dropped the gas tank.  It's brand new...so is the sending unit.  That's $300 I don't have to spend.  The fuel filler tube has a vent line running along it which dumps down into the frame rail.  That doesn't seem very safe.  I might have to figure something else out there.

Now it's on to the engine compartment.  I'll be lifting the car up over the engine just like how I installed the engine in the Challenger.  I'll post some pics once I get them onto the computer.
