I explained that I just used a wooden dolly for the Challenger.  It worked OK, but it wasn't stable.  I didn't want to store the assembly on something like that long term.  I had scraps of metal in a pile and used those to build the cart.  I also had a can and a half of "hammered" finish spray paint that was just sitting on the shelf.  This didn't cost me anything.  Plus, I got to spend the day with my father-in-law in the garage attaching metal together with FIRE!  :ylsuper:

I don't want to point out design flaws because your stand is pretty nice but you have anchored the Kmember to the stand via the Kmember bolt holes which need to be free when you slide that baby under the car. Once under the car, put the bolts through the holes and then lift the car slightly to get the engine stand out of the way.

You are partially correct.  It was a major brain fart on my part.  I originally had the legs bolted to the "top side" of the main "T".  Only after I had the K sitting on it did I realize my mistake.  It was easy to correct though.  I just unbolted the "legs" and mounted them to the "bottom side" of the main "T".  Once the stand is under the car, I will remove one bolt on each side and the "legs" will drop out of the way.  The K will then be sitting on the main "T" just long enough to install the four attaching bolts.

Yes....um....that's what I had planned all along....yah...that's it.  It wasn't a mistake....I planned it that way all along.  :grinyes:

I guess the DS quarter is done.  I'm going over there on Saturday morning.  They need all the hood/trunk bumpers as well as the hood/trunk latches to start aligning things.  Once I see what the damage is to my wallet, I'll see if I want to go any further with it right now.

Welds ground down and D.A.R.T letter holes filled.

Previous body work holes filled.

The PS was very wavy.  They got it straightened out though.

They are working on the trunk today.  They said it's the straightest part of the entire car.  No dents and no filler.  They are welding the rear finish panel holes as well as the GT emblem holes.  The under side of the trunk lip needs a little work.  It had started to swell slightly.  That's all for now.

This weekend I worked on the metal tabs on the firewall.  Blasting had damaged the rubber coating on the tabs and they were all bent out of shape.

I burned the existing rubber off of them and straightened them out in my vise.

I read where someone suggested putting heat shrink tubing on the ends before dipping them so that's what I did.  I'm not sure that was necessary.

I also cleaned up the brake distribution block.  It looked pretty nasty to start with.

After the initial cleaning.

I tried removing the brass plug at the bottom but it didn't want to budge.  I ended up just flushing it out and making sure that the internal valve still moved freely.  After polishing the brass with steel wool, I RPMed the bracket and lubed the inside with brake fluid.  It turned out nice.

I picked up two used bucket seat hinge covers at the Nats.  Two of the original ones were not usable.  I also picked up a can of Herb's Pearl White interior paint.

The pearl paint just turned the black covers a silver color.  I didn't want to waist an entire can so I sprayed them with SEM Super White(I think that's what it's called)first.  Then I misted the pearl on top of that.  Then I sprayed a clear over it.  It is a little hard to see in this picture but they look really good in person.  The cover on the left has the pearl on it...the one on the right is just the SEM paint.
